Hello from a noob

:
2016 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD
I just bought a 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring yesterday and I'm very excited about it so I thought I'd join this community and say hello. I test drove about every car in my price range and kept coming back to the CX-5. Very comfortable to drive when you're 6'2"! I love the car. Fun to drive and looks amazing. Titanium flash mica 😍

Anyway just saying hello. Any weird CX-5 quirks I should know about?

Hi, I'm sure you will enjoy it and deciding which mods you want to put on it. I'll let someone else chime in on 2016 peculiarities as I own a 2015.

What did you pay before tags and tax, doc fee , etc.

I paid $28,400. I didn't get the tech package but it was more than a couple thousand off the sticker price so hopefully I didn't get ripped off too bad. I'm happy with it. I had a good down payment and I have good credit so my monthly payments are exactly where I want them.

Just love it:

Hello Dan,

Welcome to the Forum, good group here, with lot's of knowledge
and information, they've help me with lot's of questions that I had.

Enjoy !!!!

Welcome! What car are you coming from>?

No real quirks really, other than I recommend checking tire pressures (selling dealer is supposed to do this but rarely does), and reading the owners manual (not all at once). (chair)

I was driving a 2007 Honda Accord. It was stolen and the thieves then ran a stop sign, got t-boned and lost control before crashing into a house. They fled the crash scene (the car was demolished so I'm amazed they weren't injured badly) but left all of their stuff behind including their cell phones (morons). My car was paid off and I have good insurance and they covered the entire loss minus my $100 deductible. I feel like I've gone from a covered wagon to a space shuttle. I can't wait to take it up to the mountains this weekend!

So far I have no complaints. The back seat doesn't have a ton of leg room but it's just me and my gf so I'm not too bothered.

Thanks for th tip on the tire pressure! Any other tips are gladly welcomed

Wow! Now there is a story! I am glad that it worked out for you, and hope the thieves got some sense knocked into them...

Enjoy your new ride!

nice, we almost went for that colour, love the way it changes as the lighting does, but decided on the 'hide dirt' white instead

might want to look at swapping out the interior lights for LED ones, a few topics on that in the forums,

can get them from various ebay, amazon sellers, we opted for the slow boat from asia seller, a couple weeks not a biggy

From 2007 Accord to 2016 CX-5, I like that analogy!

Have fun in the mountains and congrats on your new ride!

The mountains are a great place to wear-in a new engine, transmission. My advice, don't be afraid to put your foot into it a bit and row through the gears on the uphill sections (without actually flooring it or taking it above 5000 rpm's). This will insure a tight sealing of valves and piston rings and long, efficient life.

Enjoy!

I have yet to find many wierd quirks, the only one so far is when you are doing 65-70mph, and let off the throttle, as in coasting behind a car and decide to take the gap to the left or right and floor it, you can get a nasty hard clunk in the driveline and the computer will downshift VERY aggressively, sometimes only 1000rpm before redline. Thus far, that's the only quirk I've noted.

I don't like mountains + new motor + CX-5 idea. The CX-5 likes to lug, and you can load the motor up more than is prudent. I'd drive in 1-200 miles of city traffic first, but honestly, no-matter what you do unless it's stupid, you'll be fine.

Have you tried the transmission ECU RE-LEARN procedure to see if that takes care of the problem? See the TSB in the sticky here under Shift shock for the relearn procedure.

Once again great tips. I'm going to look into the led lights. The stock lights are kind of... Intense. I've already done about 100 miles of city driving and we took a quick drive to the coast which was about 120 miles round trip, slight road curves and about 1000 feet elevation changes. The mountains are much curvier and the elevation can fluctuate 5000-6000 feet from start to finish. We'll probably bring a tent and camp out overnight. I won't lie - I'm pretty stoked. This is the perfect car for where I live in Oregon!

thanks for the tips and for listening - like I said I'm really excited!

I hope you're not talking about LED headlights. Factory LED lightings + AFS from Tech Package is the best you can get. Many people believe LED lightings + AFS alone in Tech Package is well worth the $1,505 MSRP you spent.

Congrats!
