hearing engine noise and lossing gas

Just wondering if any one has this problem, but when i am in 2nd or 3rd gear and when the rpms hit about 2500 the sound of the engine changes. Instead of a consistent deeper growl as i rev the engine the sound gets higher until the rpms hits about 3000. I really do not feel an impact in my driving when going through those 500 rpms but I have never had that problem with any other car I have driven.

Also If any has a loss in gas mileage let me know i'm not the only one. I'm assuming it is because of the colder weather that i'm losing about 20 to 30 miles compared to when i first bought the car in July 2003. Again however this has never happened to me with any other car I have driven.

ive noticed the drop in milage in the winter. gets back to normal in better weather.

i dunno what that engine thing you are talking about. perhaps its the VICS which opens/ closes for more air flow

its not a very big gas tank btw, that may be why you think its getting crap gas mileage..

for being winter and not as cold here as many of other places i just put 387 miles to the tank of an 14.5 gal lol

This sounds to me like the symptoms I started to notice (My gas mileage suffered as well). I hope you don't have the same misfortune I had!

Do you hear any "rattle or knocking" noises? That's what made me take my car into the dealership. My symptoms happened in 1st, 2nd, and later on 3rd gears at 2500 - 3000rpm
