Header Choice

no, my shipping dept isnt set up to do int'l shipping right now. We are looking into it, we just havent got anything finalized yet

will the reactive header pass emissions in georgia and will it fit on the stock downpiping because i have the mazdaspeed axelback and i like it? plus does the car get alot louder or just a little bit? also do i need to buy anything extra such as 02 sensors and all that other good stuff? finally does anyone have a pic of the header because dont most headers change color after so many miles? thanks for all the info and answering my question.

As far as emissions go i'm not sure if it will pass because it gets rid of your 1st cat keeps the 2nd though. Yes it will fit on your factory piping. And it adds a little noise my greddy exhaust has a little deeper droan but no high pitch at all. As far as your )2 sensors all u need to do is screw the 1st o2 sensor into the header like normal. as for the 2nd o2 sensor what i did was go to meineke and have them weld a o2 bung to my cat back about 4 inches from the flange(behind the 2nd factory cat). And as far as changing colors the ractive header will rust(mild steel) unless you get it coated . i chose to get mine nickel plated($100). After i drove 30 miles it turned a blueish/purplish color. and now after putting over 1,000 miles on it(no CEL either), it is now a dark blueish/purplish. Just look at these pics on the header. This is after about 50-60 miles and i had the bung welded on. Also disregard the foulers you see on the 1st o2 sensor those were the 2nd o2 senosr(i was a bonehead). And i ended up not needing them once the bung was welded on.

The emissions thing depends on your state. If they do a visual inspection, you need to have 2 cats, some states require them to be in the stock location. States that do a tailpipe inspection only will pass you, as long as the car is warmed up when you take it there. 2 cats does nothing more than function as if your car was warm, when it's cold. In states that do ECU datalog inspections you need to relocate your second 02 sensor behind the only cat you have left.

My header changed color during it's first heat cycle. I tried to use soap and water and that didn't help, it only made a difference between the inside areas that I couldn't reach and the outside pipes.

thanks for the reply. i just want a little more accel and pull. i think thats the only way to go. intake/exhaust/header. eventhough its probably not alot of improvement?

Yup. But who the hell cares? I didn't buy my car so other people will watch me speed around in it. I bought it so I could DRIVE the bastard!

good point but i do a little autocrossing and go to the drag strip. i want to at least beat something other than a civic ex/lx/dx, corolla, sentra non se-r, and none srt-4 neons.

for autox you shoudnt have a problem w/ these cars if youre a good driver.(except for srt-4) But for drag racing, if you want to beat other than what you listed then you're driving the wrong car.

Yeah if you wanna drive fast in a straight line, get a turbo. If you wanna autox, I think your NA setup plus cams and port and polish will really kick ass. Yes you'll probably beat the corrolas and civics and neons with your bolt-ons. But does it really matter beating them by a fraction of a second???

you forgot to add ractive to your list of possibles (i only mention that because i have them on sale right now) heres a pic
hey man well i wonder if u know where to find header for the 1.6L protege 2002
thanks!!!!!

I have the obx header, and I have instant throttle right on in the early RPM range. The obx header almost gets rid of the bad first gear problem which is nice (hump)

if you get rid of your first cat, then it will not pass unless you put the stock part back in. In Florida, I have never seen any emissions testing going on. Hopefully they won't come and bother me and my polluting protege (birthday)
