Header Choice

Looking for some opinions on headers. Right now I am looking at a Wagner, OBX, or AWR. I need input from people that have them and what they think about them. I am going to buy one very soon. I am leaning most towards the Wagner. Thanks. :D

you forgot to add ractive to your list of possibles (i only mention that because i have them on sale right now) heres a pic

they say it is, i really dont see how because you are removing a cat. Do you have emissions testing in your state?

depends on your state.

i would break it down like this:

awr: top of the line, good gains
obx/ ractive: best bang for the buck, good gains
wagner: emissions friendly, mild gains

Yes I do have emissions. That is why Wagner is in there. I did not even consider Ractive but I do like their products. $200 is not bad is that shipping included I am in Arizona, Phoenix.

Dammmmmn...this header looks SICK. Judging by the looks of the stock manifold, any header will be better than stock. I'd definately want something emmisions legal though. Living in California and all, anyone who drives a car that looks remotely moded is harrassed.

Ya..the ractive header is best bang for hte buck. Get it ceramic coated so it doesn't discolor the header.

If you are looking for any noticable gains, get the ractive for $200. I got the wagner and noticed no difference in gains. It looks nice, but besides that......mass has strict inspection and i probably could have passed as long as i am not throwing a CEL. would fail the visual due to lack of Pre-cat, but the tech where i get it inspected said if you are not passing a CEL, he would pass me. i should have gotten the ractive........

id say a lot of inspectors wouldnt know that it had a precat. id never thought of that

wagner shorty has nice gains of 8 whp. thats basically what everyone else is claiming so dont think that cause it keeps your cat its only mild gains

How many emissions inspectors will take their jobs seriously enough to know that p5's have a pre-cat?

LZ

They don't...but they have these books that tell them everything. so the bastards KNOW what to look for.

ractive vs obx

Has anyone compared the OBX to the Ractive? I've read that Ractive will start giving gains from lower in the rev range (presumably due to the longer primaries). any thoughts? can anyone verify? thanks.

its not that the emissions person knows a p5 has 2 cats its when you pull up and they ask make and model and yr and the computer tells em exactly what to look for.

parts like a header are so friggin easy to swap in and out even if you have emissions every 2 or 3 yrs....a couple hours of work to swap the stocker back in is no prob for me every few yrs.

The ractive's power gains start coming on around 1000rpm's lower than w/ the stock exhaust manifold. Run a search on the dyno results in the NA Tech forum...username: Blown
