I normally look at the Tirerack track test comparison charts and not the subjective ratings of customers. I also use Car & Driver's and Consumer Reports' ratings to compare. Most of my recent experience has been with Continental Extreme DWs, but I'd like to try out the tires that have been topping almost every comparison list - the Michelins.
You correct in that the 3 was not designed for the track. However, that seldom stops me from generating high Gs around corners when there are no passengers in the car. As a commuting car, that would be the case, most of the time in the 3.
