Guitarists?

I know what you mean about modding. I had a custom Kramer Baretta built by Gibson who bought out Kramer's leftover stock. This guitar came with all the options, coil tapping, allen wrench holder on the headstock, locking trem, Eddie Van Halen Drop-D tuner, Floyd Rose, 24-fret, dual humbuckers. I changed all the electronics over from stock wiring to EMG wiring including Zakk Wylde 81/85 active pickups, active jack, 2 short pots. All that I have left to do with wiring is change the 3-way selector switch. It currently has a black plastic electronics cover. I have already cut a cover out of clear plastic and plan to smoke it a bit. Was considering building a custom circuit board to replace all the wiring in the back. Had the guitar painted at a car shop with the "true fire" style paint job. The shop was painting a giant truck with that style and threw my guitar in the mix. Here is a before and after. ( I can't dont have a better "after pic" at work, but I have some at home)

i been jammin more as of late...

ever since the band broke up years back i haven't been as inclined to make gnarly riffs, but i'm back on it. makes me miss being on stage in front of 100+ people :/

I picked up a Squire Jaguar Bass a couple weeks ago (impulse buy at Guitar Center). It needed to be setup really badly but now it plays great and doesn't sound bad at all, especially for a $240 bass. And it looks gorgeous. :)

I'm trying to get a funk/soul thing going with my drummer friend and his hot girlfriend (a good singer) and we're having trouble finding other musicians. We played with a guitarist friday night who said he was totally into it only to find out after 10mins he can't play funk and is a blues guitarist. Bleh. So back to the drawing board... It's funny because the drummer, singer and I are all the whitest looking white cats you would ever meet. But you wouldn't know it listening to a recording of us. haha

Great steal. I got an Epiphone Les Paul through a deal. Sold my drum set to brother. One brother gave me $200 for the shells and the other brother gave me his Les Paul for the cymbals. They were both drummers and needed different parts lol. Cheap Gretch BlackHawk drum set with OLD Zildjian cymbals. I'm not a huge fan of Epiphone mainly because of their crappy electronics. I got as far as removing all electronics from the guitar itself. I have EMG electronics to put back in and a number of pickups to try out. I should do that sometime lol

Our drummer just bought a new drum set from Guitar center. Awesome all white set with black hardware

Who are some of your favorite guitarist based solely on tone? Discuss.

Oooo, I like this topic.

-Stevie Ray Vaughn before he went to Marshall amps. When he was using the old Fenders, it was really warm. The Marshalls sounded too harsh for me.
-John Petrucci's tone in "Hollow Years" from the Live at Budokan album is pretty awesome. The rest of his stuff is hit or miss as far as what I'd consider "awesome" tone.
-Eric Johnson's "violin tone" is one reason I always wanted a Strat.
-Mikael Akerfeldt's tone on Opeth's Damnation is one that I can only dream of.

Dost thou haveth any YouTube linkeths of thine tones described, pray tell? (It's easier to hear examples than read them, heh-heh)

Anyone else? Don't be shy. :)

1st drum lessons: I'm starting at a much higher level than anyone else he's taught :) Straight into fills

Good lord, that's a long time to screw around. I understand that feeling though. After my grandfather died, I inherited his 1959 Silver electric guitar and amp. It was old, out of tune, and I had no clue what I was doing, but I fiddled with it until I got lessons and a new guitar

Its probably longer than that now but yeah. I figured it's about time to get serious with it. Tuning is half the battle LOL
