Guitarists?

You're running direct for those big shows? Isn't that unheard of for guitarists? Your amps are a critical part of your tone, no?

Cam, that guitar is sweet. Haha

Yeah... it is pretty crazy to hear about doing, but I've been seeing it more and more lately. That's what I liked about the POD... running direct still sounded like an amp. I came up with a few settings that I really liked on that Boss while playing thru the amp... got to rehearsal, went direct, and it sounded like epic poo.

If it was up to me... I'd run right to my Vox, then mic that. I have a sound that I love programmed into that.

My amp has my needed effects built in, chorus, reverb, delay, and more. All adjustable levels, variance, and even bpm's.

purchased this few weeks back les paul studio. also picked up a spider3 hd75 really liking it.

I've got the same one lol. White studio. I had a crappy Gretch Blackhawk drumset and traded it for that Studio and $200

I've got an Epi Standard. For a while, I didn't really like it. Thought it sounded like crap, but turned out that it was just my POD giving up the ghost.

I do recommend changing Epiphone electronics. They are pretty low grade and can cause issues. Get soof picups and change the pickup splitter and you're golden

So are all of you self taught or have you taken lessons through anyone?

I am personally self taught mostly with some pointers given here and there from other bassists.

I took lessons from 2003-2007. After taking in as much as he could offer, I ventured forth on my own studying other player's styles via youtube. I learned a lot of songs by ear/visual from players like Gentaro Satomura, Kiko Loureiro, Paul Gilbert, and more

Nice! My music studies began with the violin back in the fifth grade. Then I moved to trumpet then started slappin the bass.

I'm self taught, but came from a musical background to begin with. I played trumpet for... probably 15 years before bashing my face and making it nearly impossible to play. I picked up guitar before that, and have been playing that for almost 14 years now. At one point I was decent, but over the last few years, it's been hard for me to dedicate the time that I want to into it and my playing level has decreased significantly. This gig that I've been practicing for has brought me back up, but a lot of the stuff that I used to be able to do has been difficult lately. For example, I used to play along with Iced Earth rhythm parts. Now, I have difficulty keeping up with Master of Puppets era Metallica.

I've got Yngwie Malmsteen " Faster than the speed of light". I also Have Malmsteen's "caprici di diablo" on Rock Band! lol
