Me and the LTD

My main guitar is the LTD and i play through the SpiderIII head and Mesaboogie Cab. I have the pedal for the head so I can switch channels, tune, and it has a built in volume/wah pedal.

My band's name is "Five and On Fire" don't ask lol. We've been together for about a year and a half, all friends from highschool. No recordings yet, but we plan on recording professionally in the next month or two.

We have 2 crappy youtube vids that a friend took unknowingly. You can't hear much but i'll post them on request

All that I have seen so far is beautiful. BTW I did possess a bass for a couple months, not sure what brand or year. I had a handfull of "lessons" and I decided I was not cut out for string instruments because I can't see both hands at the same time. I try to sing and play drums from time to time at a friends house.

It takes people of all kinds. Maybe it's a practice thing. I can play guitar at the speed of light, however, I can't play more than basic drums due to rhythm issues and I sure as hell can't play piano! Something different on both hands!? not my cup o' tea lol

Cleverfrog, that's cool you guys just have a chill jam session every now and then. As far as the amp goes, what's your budget?

I dunno, maybe around 400 or 500. Something reliable. I hate when a woofer tears or the input jack breaks. Sounds awful.

welp. I opted for a hartke xl 4x10 cab and hartke ha3500 head. Little more than I wanted to spend but, i know it's worth it because I've played on them for 8 years now. Ill get a hartke 1x15 cab to complete the stack later.

cool beans. I play all my shows with a 150W Line6 SpiderIII head through a '79 Mesa Boogie 4x12 cab. It had 2 Carvin/Mesgaboogie Black shadow speakers and 2 no name speakers. I replaced the no names with Carvin Vintage 30's from England

Does your Hartke cab have the aluminum cones or the paper ones? I'm not a big fan of Hartke but for the price they are pretty darn nice. How many watts is your head? You'll probably be just fine with the 4x10 cab. I had that Epifani 3x10 cab for a couple years in the pic above with my EA iAmp350 and it was plenty loud and sounded soooooo good. I miss that rig so much. I can't believe I sold it... But I sold it to buy my first KL. haha, vicious cycle.

I picked up a Carvin 12" combo a couple months ago and it's a nice little amp. I very rarely play out anymore so I just wanted something that sounded good for practicing in my room but would be able to be loud enough for jam sessions and small gigs. I'll pick up a matching tweed Carvin 15" if I start playing out again.

Bump. Because I'm excited to be buying back my dream rig from my bassist buddy in a month or two when he's ready to sell and is leaving his band.

EA iAmp350 and Epifani UL-310 (3x10") cab. Sounded heavenly and lightweight. Crappy pic but it's on the left. It was funny when I would offer cats to use my bass rig and they would see how little it was and pass so they could use their Hartke or Carvin rig. This is boutique s***, son! haha

There's always a piece of gear you sell and a couple months later you're like "Damn it. Why did I sell that?". Thankfully I know better than to ever sell my Marcus Miller Fender Jazz. That's my baby and sounds/plays better than any Sadowsky hands down. Of course, I had to modify it too. ;)

Wish I didn't sell my Pedula. Best fretless I've ever played and I got it for a killer deal from a good friend. I refinished it since the blue was a little too wild for me. I've had about 16 basses so far.

How about you guys? Is there something in your arsenal that you would NEVER sell? Or something you wish you could buy back?

I've sold 2 guitars in my lifetime. A Fender Mexican Tele which I turned around and bought a Fender American Tele. I recently sold that Ibanez you heard about but honestly, it had no sustain or tone. Bad construction. I can't part with most of my guitars, They are all unique, custom, or not made anymore

Do you have any pics of the '59 Sears guitar? I love old, quirky stuff like that.

I love the vintage stuff. Tubes and analog for me please!

I was forcefully placed in a situation where I almost sold my Fender Bandmasters... both of them. When I got the offers, I said "Screw this... I can sell something else instead." Not saying I wouldn't sell one... but I don't see it happening. The one guitar that I could never sell is definitely the Jaguar. Even if I don't really play it as much as I'd like, I don't think I could let that one go.

Recently, I purchased a Boss ME-50 multi-effects pedal. My POD XT Live decided to s*** the bed on me. Took it to an authorized repair shop and their estimate before they even begun to look at it was 2-3 weeks. I have a pretty good sized trio of shows coming up on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, and needed something to use. Got a good deal on that, and I don't despise the sound. Still tweaking though.

Do you guys prefer a multi-effects board or individual pedals?

First things first, I don' have a picture of my '59 Silvertone with me (I'm at work) I'll grab a pic of a look-a-like on the Google and post at the end of this post.

As far as multi-effects pedals, I started leaning that way and got a Boss GT-6. Too much for me. My current setup is pretty much pedal-less. I bought the mid-line pedal for my amp. It has 4 switches that allow me to switch through my amp presets, 1 expression pedal that I can use as a volume pedal, or stomp for wah, and a built in chromatic tuner. I have a Dimebag Darrel Cry Baby from Hell Wah pedal. It's amazing, but I don't use wah and the wah in my amp pedal sounds fine anyway. The only pedal(s) I can see myself getting anytime soon would be a compression pedal to help with stage noise, and perhaps an EQ Pedal.

BTW guys, my band All My Circuits has finished tracking our EP at SleepWalker Sounds Studio and it will be released towards the end of this month. IF I remember, I'll post Facebook links.

Silvertone1451.JPG

1959 Silvertone guitar and amp bought at Sears and Roebuck by my Grandfather.

The guitar is practically made of a countertop material, most likely Masonite. The color is a copper, white knobs, silver selector switch (not sure why with one pickup, can't hear a difference) and a clear pickguard. The head came in two style, I have the pictured above, Hourglass head, and there was another style that looked like a telecaster named the Dolphin style head. The pickups are called lipstick pickups. The old guitars companies would take the metal tubes Mary Kay and other companies used in the 50's to put lipstick in and they would pack their electronics into these tubes. The guitar came with a tweed tube amp with a 10" speakers and a guitar case. I currently have the Guitar, amp, and case all in working order.

Realistically, I'd like to have just a couple boxes. The less tap dancing the better, but with the last few gigs I've done (even if it's a short time thing), I've been asked to do a particular sound here and there to fill in, or an effect here to double something, and crap like that. The only real reason I bought the Boss was because we're running direct to the board for this show, and I've had sub-par experiences with the output of a stomp box going direct. Most of the multi-boards have a line out.
