Well not totaly done. That electrical clicking issue is still boggling me.

I still find it wierd that using two sets of the knuconcepts RCA's is causing it but individualy they don't and the moster cable 4 channel RCA's totaly remove it. There has to be something up with one of those RCA's.

For those keeping track at home, we found two problems. One was the one described above. THe alternator whine was caused by one of the RCA's being too close to the power wire for too long of a run. THe ground was ok but we moved it to be sure.

congrats... glad to hear it was able to be resolved.

Hey. I am back. The tweeters did a version of that clicking that we observed but much louder. They did that twice but it disapeared after a little bit. Weird... Also for a couple of days the speakers sounded great and there weren't too many rattles even at high volume, but now they rattle again like mofos. Pisses me off. Hopefully dampening the s*** out of the doors will help, and that is planned for this weekend.

But still the whine is gone and seems to be gone for good.
Any thoughts welcome. I feel like i need new speakers.... I don't know.

Oh by the way went to best buy to listen to some speakers but they have a very very limited selection of component speakers.

don't buy speakers from best buy... or tweeter..(i am anti tweeter) best buy isn't bad but their selection is weak. there are a ton of local stereo shops in the worcester area... just start lookin em up and see if they have a floor model of components they want to get off their hands for a lil discount of course....

The only thing I can think of with the crackling speakers is that the sligt poping you have can be gettingloud in short bursts. The other possibility is that the speaker wires have been cut a bit already in the doors and a periodicly shorting. Of Coarse, can't rul out bad speakers.

Tweeter has alot more options. Best buy has alpine and Rockford, I wouldn''t bother with anything else they have.

Be aware that small shops are well known to mark stuff up 10% more then tweeter or other large chains. The Boomer Mclouds down the street from me is terrible with this.

oh no i wouldn't buy anything at best buy or tweeter :D

I would buy something online/e-bay just trying to get an idea of what it sounds like.

It's tweeters that were clicking firsty, similar to what we've heard but much louder, and they seem to only do it at first when you just turn on the stereo for the first time that day. and then it goes away slowly...
I don't know. I know i would prefere softer tweets. But then again i am not sure.

I think i should change the placement of my tweets....
Is it a really bad idea to use different brand speaker (mid bass) crossovers and tweeters?
What do you guys think of Image Dynamics stuff? Are they any good? What about the JBL and Phoenix Gold?

yes, you want to use a complete component set of one brand.
I agree that you shoul move the tweeter. I also think you need to return the RCAs or atleast get some new ones.

Image stuff is great, I'd aviod the other 2

OK. Doors are done. Cascade Audio really rocks. Very easy to work with. But there is always a but. The tweeter on the drivers side is a goner. Now that mostly all the vibrations are gone you can really hear it making god awfull noises every time the bass hits. Now the question is how the hell does bass affect the tweeter? The only answer that comes to mind is a faulty crossover. Thank you Lightning Audio. Although there is a sick amout of mid bass (by my standards) you really can't crank it up due to the stupid tweeter. God damn it. Time for new speakers for real now... Shiaaaat

Does Cervin Vega make good car speakers? They are surprisingly cheap....

Also what about MA Audio?

I thought it was the passanger side that was the worst. My worry is that the electrical poping in the system maybe part of the reason your speakers are dying an early death. Check to be sure you don't have the tweeter accidently conencted to the mids output on the crossover. Thats as easy as disconnecting the tweeter output of the tweeter and then listening. If you have it connected right, the tweeter will stop playing and not the mid.

Keep that bass setting at zero.

If you want, i have a couple of crossovers that you can try and see if they help. Atleast that will help you determin what part ofr the speaker sets are bad.
