Ground Loop Issues

Does Cervin Vega make good car speakers? They are surprisingly cheap....

Also what about MA Audio?

Both are about inline with lighting audio. IF you want a cheap speaker thats built well, lookat rockford fosgate, infinity, or pioneer.

Huh. No the tweet is 100% connected to the right output (doublechecked) the sound other than the tweet is amazing. That sound is not buzzing that we observed. That is actuall popping and distortion. Very obvious with no iffs or buts this time. It was obvious to both of us (me and my friend i mentioned a lot while i was at your place last weekend. He used to install home audio so he knows some stuff)
So i think at this point new speakers is the only good option.... You mentioned infinity and pioneer, but what about the good old clarion to match my HU and amp? They have some components out for a very good price and all the reviews i read were great. This is the speaker i am talking about http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLASRS1625?vq_id=none
What do you think? Although the tweet is aluminum, i didn't mind my half blown tweets with resistors wired in.

oh also what about Kicker components. I know their subs are good but what about speakers?

If your getting new speakers, then move away from the resistor idea, get a speaker set that has several tweeter attinuation levels. Clarion and kicker are decent.

What brands have crossover with that feature?

Too many to list but its usualy a feature you start to see in components around $250 and up.

So i blew the other tweeter tonight. This is most likely due to the crossover being only 6db per octave.

Actually apparantly infinity reference has the -3db option as well. I think they are the best bang for the buck plus i already know that i like how they sound.

Thanks a lot for helping me out with everything.

can 4ohm rated infinities be run with my amp bridged? When i bridge it it puts out 4 ohm load still, or maybe i am confused....

I installed my new infinities today and dude they are sooo much better. No comparison. There were problems thogh. I hink i was running too much base. I had the bass boost turned on the amp, magna base on the head unit and +3 on bass controll. The volume was about 28 out of 38 and the new tweets also did the cracking thing, not nearly as bad. So turned off the bass bost on the amp. It seems to me that it helped. At least a haven't heard the cracking after that. The hiss also disapeared with this new speakers.
The tweets are run with -3db setting on the crossover and are still freaking obnoxiosly loud, even though they are silk. I will have to move them down. Where do you think is the best place imaging wise to put them on the Pro?
Thanks Firsty : )

You can run your amp bridged but if you are going to send them that much power make sure the crossover is set properly (75-90Hz).

I have my tweeters mounted in the stock locations and they are turned all the way down (-6db I think). Most people like to mount them just above the driver but that requires cutting. You can also make bracket and suspend them over the driver (The rear mounting piece that comes with every aftermarket stereo is great for this). The best place, of course is to mount them in the kickpanel but that usually requires some fiberglass work.

so will/can it be bad for the speakers or the amp to run bridged? My amp is not so powerfull. It will only give 100 watts rms per channel bridged, and the speakers are rated 90 watts RMS. I also hear that infinities like large amounts of power...

Sorry, somehow your response slipped past me.

100 watts should be good for those speakers. I would still set the crossover though, it will prevent them from breaking up at loud volumes. There is nothing wrong with running your amp bridged. Your speakers are 4ohms and the amp can handle 4ohms (2ohms per channel essentially) when bridged.

i guess i will try it tomorrow. The only problem i forsee is the crossover control and coordinating the gains. The problem is that i only have a highpass xover for the front channel and lowpass for the rear, so how would i coordinate it?

oh...well then, that's no good.

I guess you'll have to run full-range unless your head unit has a built-in crossover.

Nope the Headunit is very very basic. Honestly i like it that way....

Your amp really is not a good candidtae for bridging because of its crossover. You couls always buy a cheapo external crossover or just use bass blockers. They will suck up some of the power but 90 watts rms is MORE then enough power for an infinity refernce set of speakers. THey are relatively cheap too.

They are just a small capacitor.
