Ground Loop Issues

I am hoping so. The problem is that i am in college, which is not too far away from my parents house, where i keep my tools and stuff, but that still means that i need to get there, take my car apart for the 100th time, fix the problem hopefully, put my car back together, and drive back. So yeah weekends are my only option. But unfortunately (maybe fortunately) it's my mom's birthday on saturday, so saturday is out of the game. If i have enough time to do it sunday i will. Otherwise it might have to be moved to next weekend. Maybe firsty will be kind enough to let me come over then and we'll look at the problem closely.

you going to school in worcester? i def understand bout college i didn't have a car in college spent all my $$ on beer and pizza... the staples of a freshman diet.... sounds like if you go to 1sty's you will be employed to help paint a kitchen as payment... not a bad trade off if it works...

lol Yeah, i'll help him why not. That's what nepokers do : ) Yeah i go to shool in worcester. I go to Clark University. I am a senior though so only a bit over a month of school left. It actually makes me sad : (

I was never a drinker, i mean i haven't had a single drink while in school. I am not BSing. I am pathetic lol.

no s*** i went to clark u for a year, way back in 97' (before your time youngster) hahaha, i was only there for one year b/c i got in a bad car wreck (totalled my parents chrysler) and then my folks decided it was to much $$ to send me back so i packed my crap up and moved the hell out... been workin for da man ever since... whats your major?

it will be 2 amps one 4 channel to run my boston z6 speakers, bi ampin em!!! (i just got them monday... whooohoooo!!! (cabpatch) ) and then a d series for my boston 10 inch sub... i still need to get the sub amp and then there is that whole carputer journey i am thinking about enjoying, but i think i may just do the stereo set up first instead of waiting for the carputer... going to use a loc to keep the hu stock, i think the stock set up is just sexy! both amps will be jl audio, i have the e4300 and going with either the 250 slash or the 1400d for the sub..? definatly think i can do it myself but don't want to mess up... once i have all the components (sp?) then i will have to see if what an install will run me...

Don't biamp the Z's, bridge the 4 channel.
Stick with one series of amp, the 250/1 is kind of a rip off unless your getting a deal on it. The E1400 would be my choice. However, I would SERIOUSLy suggest looking at the JL E6450.

If you were to take the car to have a shop install it:
4 channel amp install: $64
2/1 channel amp install: $55
Component in door install : $100
Sub install and single sealed custom sub box: $125

Then of coarse you need the RCA's, power wire, and other various accessoried. You don;t need a LOC with the JL e series amps, they have them built in.

WOw, no beer huh. Hmm should be interesting for you to have me look at teh car then. I drink while I install. Makes using a router a b**** but now and again you can make some really cool designs that you don't even know about until the next day (beer)

LOL firsty. This forum knows you're a good installer, so what if you drink while you do it. Just don't spill too much beer into my car : ) And dude i come from the country where people drink if you know what i mean. That country is Russia. And although i don't fit the stereotypes, I sure as hell have seen people build some nice s*** while completely drunk. So no worries :D

Oh s*** sorry about your wreck : (

My major is Pre-Vet = biology. However with my pathetic grades the chances of me making it to the vet school are very slim. So i will most likely be stuck with doing molecular bio stuff that i hate for at least a couple years....

if he spilled beer while working on your car, that would be alcohol abuse; or is it, if he was drinking beer while working on your car would that be considered alcohol abuse??? j/k......

LOL Ryan, let's make a meet out of my trip to firsty. Bring the intire nepoc there and abuse Firsty's good will! Just kidding.
Firsty is Da man

I mostly joking about the drinking and installing, atleast about the too excess part.
Pre-vet, kind of a coincidence. My Girlfriend is graduating this spring From Mount Ida as a certified Vet tech. She has the grades, but not the will to do med school.

Huh. I've worked with 2 girls from mount ida about 3 years ago in Genzyme for a summer. Do you know whether she worked in genzyme?

Mount ida is also very close to my parents house in Newton. And it's a know vet tech school. But to be honest with you I am happy i went to clark as i got a much broader education in the liberal arts, and my diploma will be bachelor of arts, major biology...

is that nasty lil professor, he was department head of biology, still there? i can't remember his name but he was really lil and had liver spots... he was dating some tiny lil asian grad student back when i went there... nasty!! its been so long i can't remember their names but i did like the chem prof, and the genetics prof. i think her name was susan something can't remember though, she was great... i was going for molecular genetics... now i am turning wrenches repairing autmation (pnuematics, robotics, electrical kinda stuff....).....?????????

If you're talking about Trachtenberg, as the little old guy, yeah he's still around. He is barely there though.

I think you're talking about Susan Foster as the profeesor you knew, only she doesn't teach genetics. Maybe she did back than, i am not sure.

Which chem professor did you have? Professor Jones, or professor Brenner? They are the older ones....
Yeah everything is similar. Bio department just got a new Building, it is very nice. But yeah, nice that you remember all that stuff.

yeah brenner i believe he was great, foster yeah she tought the class evolution theory through genetics... (it was a great class!!) don't think that was the guys name, i bet he left or was fired for his hittin on the grad students... don't know the name trachtenberg, (thats quite the name i would remember that) cool new building that old one was not that great. that campus was great i loved it to death wish i could have finished up my degree... oh well (still payin loans for that one year of school.... damn higher education is not $$)

dude, i'll be payin my loans all my life i swear. I am not even thinking about it.....

no shiat!! i am tryin to take advantage of work payin for my classes but it is slow goin!! and the schools around here aren't that great (state universities/community college type crap) so next weekend you going to have this ground loop issue figured out and come up to maine to show me how its done?

Haha, you're kidding, Right? My noobness in car stereo is very great. And you really seem to know your stuff. Yeah i will try to figure out this bloody whine next weekend, and maybe tweek with it a bit more over the week. It's just that i have almost no options left. I need to get a good battery terminal, i think that might be leading to some of my problems. I will cure this god damn piece of crap :D

never done a car stereo install but i do electrical type stuff at work all day, i think i am just nervous to gut my baby to run all the wires, plus i want to do a fiberglass box for my sub where my jack should go to try and save as much space as possible so that could pose a prob but i am readin bout it on the web and tryin to figure it out..?? hopefully by the time the nepoc dyno day (6/4) i should have everything done and you will be able to give it a listen... (got my fingers crossed)

deff go get a new terminal and see if that helps could be just niose due to a bad connection....
