GHL Motorsports True Turboback Pictures

and if you are just figuring out that PB blaster is good for exhaust bolts, Im obviously not speaking to a mechanic...

Hey sorry if I was being arrogant, I seriously was explaining the situation I was in and really believed that it couldn't be done, more power to you if you could do it your way. And to be really honest, if you were a good mechanic you wouldn't be using a chisel on a car to losen a bolt. Did you use a chisel to tighten it too?

And about PB Blaster, I grew up with aircraft mechanics and use more not well known lubricants and bolt losening agents. PB Blaster happens to be something I never heard about, and because I didn't know about it in no way determines my skill as a mechanic.

This isn't meant to be a pissing contest to see who is a "better" mechanic. I am a college graduate who works in Manhattan, not a certified mechanic, just a weekend warrior.

wow 03 i guess it was a wee bit off, we at least we can compare. im going to install mine while the wifey is at work. As far as sound im excited, i have a 3" catless resonatorless rright now and its loud as hell. it will be nice to hear a low tone.

Ok everyone kiss and make-up now. We should all be in good moods cuz we all own a kick ass product. Bottom line: The full turbo-back exhaust kicks some serious ass. It has made my car a monster that makes me smile from ear to ear under heavy acceleration. And the sound,at idle and at full throttle is a deliciously low and deep tone. Enjoy this guys, I know I will. In fact, the radio won't be on in my car for awhile :D!

GHL Thanks for a kickass product and superb customer service throughout!!

Video and soundclips should be recorded tomorrow. Posted either tomorrow night or Monday night. My dyno numbers for before and after soon to follow this week.

sweetness. I'll have to measure mine once I get back to TX and make sure its all gravy.

03- how did you get the bolt back on that you chisel'd loose?

Sweet, I just measured mine and I'm under 3.5" from the flange to the farthest outside point of the bend. So, looks like I'm safe. Thanks for taking those measurements 03. Glad to hear that GHL took care of things so swiftly for you.

Now, for those of you who have installed the full turbo back I've got a question. I'm going to have a custom 3" cat-back w/ an HKS CF-Ti muffler fabricated to mount behind my GHL DP. I got the catless version. So, should I have them weld in a resonator or not? I'm looking for a nice low rumble. I don't mind noise, but I don't want it to sound raspy like a lot of the Hondas running around. Any input would be appreciated.

So now the s-pipe is going on with no problems? No more rattling? Thats what pised me off the most about Apex's DPs.

I've got the full turbo-back w/ cat and resonator and I think it sounds amazing. But since this is a subjective issue I will go visit my brother and borrow his digi camcorder and take sound and video tonite and post them up as soon as i can for you to help you decide.

Mine installed w/ no clearance issues on the S-pipe. I don't know what the difference is between mine and anyone who's having problems. We installed it the long way by taking out the radiator and manifold and everything cleared just fine. But I'm not sure that even matters.
But as hazexban mentioned, there is a rattle but nowhere near the DP. Its over by the piece near the rear axle/ muffler and only occurs when the motor moves heavily. Note: I don't have the AWR motor mounts or Kartboy exhaust hangers, which would probably keep everything from moving alot more. We're 90% sure that its our fault and can be adjusted out by loosening the clamps and adjusting it, but we ran out of daylight and we were both getting really anxious to hear it :D.

All in all, its a great piece. It gives a great exhaust note, I could just sit outside and listen to it start up all day hehe. I could see how some would say its alil loud, but then those ppl shouldn't be in the market for full 3" exhaust. At moderate RPMs, it only sounds alil louder than the stock exhaust from in the cabin. But I don't think anyone will mistake you for a whiny high-pitched sound, when you decide to really get on it!
Performance wise I drove it maybe for alil less than hour just cuz I was too excited to go home. My car seems to pull all day now all the way to 6RPM. It feels like the car is very happy to be free from the extra cat and restrictive stock piping. I'll write more after I drive it some more and take it out on the highway to go to my brother's.

Sorry for the long-winded post,

Jon

To get the bolt off, I wouldnt even have needed the chisle, and that is something alot of certafied machanics use to get off hard to reach bolts. Especially when they are paid by the job and not by the time spent on the job. It in no way hurts the bolt and it gets it off alot faster than the 1/8th of a turn I could get with a wrench. Sorry if I sounded pissed I just felt like nobody believes it can be done, when I have done it. I dont really care to be called out for lies when I havent told one. No problems here though.

With the new Downpipe, all the bolts can be tightened with ease, no issues with reaching any bolts. I could have gotten that bolt off without using a chisle, it just speeds up the process. I actually broke it loose with a 12mm 8inch Wrench and finished taking it off with a chisle. I just told the chisle part cause it would be easier and faster.

I plan to make a write up on how you can remove the stock stuff without removing the mani/turbo/radiator. i have started it and will post it in the how-to.

drool. I wish I could afford one right now.... damn... I may have to crack out the credit card and just get this bad boy.

Lets get that how-to posted up! I'm very excited to see how it turns out. Right now, it looks like I'm just going to get a catted DP since I can't afford the whole turboback, so I'm hoping there won't be any banging issues at all, and fitment will be perfect around the a/c compressor.

As long as your pipe measures around 3.5 inches from flange to back of first bend you will be ok. With just the downpipe, you will have no issues with rattling or knocking. The downpipe is solid once bolted to the turbo, so when the engine moves it moves also, and it doenst even come close to hitting at the first crossmember.

good deal. I'm looking forward to the how-to. i'll have to pick up a swivel rachet.

I will take a picture of what i used, so you can get it, I know someone else on these boards can do it too... If anyone is close by to fayetteville and need help let me know. I would be glad to do this for them.
