I joined the forum again about a month ago (I joined about 5 years ago but, forgot my user name (idiot)), and just realized that I didn't introduce myself. So here it goes...
I am the proud owner of a 03.5 blazing yellow MSP (#1353). I bought the car in Jan '05 and have loved it every since. I knew I wanted to make this car a beast but, being young and doing a lot of moving around (and not spending my money wisely), I didn't accomplish much more than a CAI.
I didn't even get a chance to think about building my motor before my wastegate failed and wouldn't open. This "problem" didn't seem to be too bad at the time (being ignorant of the repercussions), because now I'm boosting 15 psi. Sweet, right?... Wrong. I ignored it and kept driving around and beating my friends whenever we'd play around on the freeway (even with the ridiculous jerk/hesitation from fuel cut). That lasted for a few months. Then... I threw a rod on Christmas eve of '06!
So, I parked the car for about a year because by this point, I had been married for just a few months and recently found out that I had a kid on the way. So my car was put on the back burner. In Jan '08 a couple of my Mazda buddies swapped the motor out, upgraded to a Forge Wastegate, did a couple other minor fixes and got the car back on the road. But, I was just starting a brand new career and still didn't have time or money to put into the car like I wanted.
Fast forward to now... I'm ready to get back in the game! I've been reading like crazy for the last month trying to catch up on all them info I've missed out on over the years. I've got to say... I've learned a lot! There is so much info in here! I hope to learn a lot more. I'm way behind the curve at this point so forgive me if I ask a dumb question every now and then. Lol
I hope this wasn't too long, I'm just glad to be back!
