Getting a MR2 to replace MSP

cool thx guys... ANyone in Orlando this weekend. I'm taking my MSP there.
heh just missed me.. i was there last weekend... and will be there next weekend. ;)

I used to have a 91 N/A and loved it. I plan on getting another in the future. I love they they way they look and are designed. To me it is one of the best cars ever made in that time. 3500 is a good price for a 91 with only 67k on it. You will love it but it does get alittle squirly come times.

cool those cars r slick..it weird though..im trying to get out of my protege, and was looking at a 1st gen MR2 n/a... and i have been looking for as much info as possible about them... Its an 87 white 5-speed, with 140k on it for 1500..its in great shape (paints alil faded..no problem though), new tires, belts, plugs, etc..does this sound like a good deal? i really know nothing about the car, but i do like the way the first gens look...

hmmm mr2

Hey,

Im 22 and Ive owned 2 91 mr2 turbo's before my mazdaspeed.

The mr2 turbo is fun as hell and if you find one without many mods it will last forever. the pre 93 mr2 models are very very squirrely in the rear. I thought I had mastered my first one til I took a downhill turn too fast and spun around into a tree. this car was stock with 80,000 miles on it and I had NO problems with it. I also had a 91 black turbo that had a rebuilt engine and many mods. I never felt it was as reliable as the stock one as it broke down a few times. The mazdapspeed is nearly as fun concerning with a lot more room for driver error. This is why I like the mazdaspeed cornering slightly better overall. I dont worry about crashing everything the turbo kicks in on a turn. The mr2 is better suited for a pro driver but the mazdaspeed allows a novice to drive aggressively relatively safely.

Straight up speed-im not gonna lie-I miss my mr2's so much.

Overall, I love both cars. Im very happy with the mazdaspeed but I will definitely own a few more MKII mr2 turbo's in my lifetime.

I just traded my 91 NA in on my MSP -

I made them give me $3200 for it - and it was on its second engine (I got it that way) and had 134XXX miles on it- so for a clean MKII NA 3500 is a good price-

The NA cars arnt really all that FAST - but they handle REALLY well. Not to mention that on the freeway my MR2 got close to 40mpg. Mabey a Fluke - but it does so very repeatably.

Fairly cheap to own and maintain (most parts are off of other toyotas) and fun to drive to boot - plus with good maintenence they will run forever.

yes my mr2 turbo got 30 miles per gallon on highway...gas mileage really wasnt bad at all

Love the MR2, I just don't fit in it ;)

Buddy of mine is swaping his n/a engine for the twin, can't wait to take that for a spin.

Got my MiCa YellOw MSP on friday, Killer car......handling is so-so, but nice in the mid to top end. One thing I noticed is that this car prevokes races with ricers. Got approched by a civic (puke) with red LED's on the windshield washer thing's and a huge ass sticker that said "TYPE R-ACING" to funny!!

Haha, thats exactly how I am. I needed more room and a car I could drive daily, so I sold it and bought the msp. I made sure my gf knew that after we get married I AM buying another project MKII.

Ah, I loved the deuce, 362whp. It was a beast, but no daily driver. I put like 3500 miles a year and had back pain from my 93 civic so i really needed a comfortable car. Man i got taken when I sold that thing. It was right after the mr2 market died off, but i just had to sell it. *sigh*

Its not twin turbo, the reason it says twin scroll turbo on the intake mani is because of the way the exhaust manifold works so to say. Its more of a restriction than anything.

Yeah - its a twin intake system. Its kinda cool - but wont allow huge hP - so a lot of people just fab their own intake.

Great car- though -

(hint - the newest thing is to use the TRD supercharged Camry V6 - talk about torque!! and 60lbs lighter than the 3sGTE - (naughty) )

man that ****** bailed on me selling his MR2... Well I think i'm more annoyed with the whole not brothing to call me when he decided not to sell the car... He had my phone number and i was giong to drive down this weekend to pick it up with cash.
