I've talked with Fiber Images about doing some new pieces for the Proteges. I would like to use their quality product due to the nature of where these parts are and the force they get. And the finish of their product looks really good. They are also extremely helpful and willing to work with people to make new products.

Protege 5 'Hatch': Retail price will be around $800. Group buy price will be around $650. It will use the factory glass. They will need to be shipped via truck freight which costs around $120 across the U.S. They are willing to give one away, but require a donor piece in trade. They're located in Palmdale, CA. So if someone who was interested could use theirs or come up with one from a wrecked car or whatever. They do want it to be a straight and more or less flawless piece too.

Protege Sedan Trunk Lid Retail price will be around $700. Group buy price will be around $550. These will hopefully be able to ship UPS/FedEx which would only be around $50 across the U.S. I am planning on providing them with an OE lid at this point.

We only need 10 of each part and they will make these. Please post any questions or concerns here.

Thanks!

damn id love me a protege5 cf hatch BUT right now i dont have the cash and i dont think i will for a few months and yeah :( a donor piece of what stock glass? any pics of this bad boy to see how its like? thanks

They need the entire hatch to make the mold off of. They would take it apart and make two molds with it.

I have seen P5's with them before, but I think it was a one-off. It would look similar however. I'll see if I can find a picture.

well im in the east coast and yeah im sorry i wouldnt be able to donate my hatch...ive seen our hatches covered in cf overlay but never a real cf hatch also JSP tried to make one but said it wasent practical because of safety for the rear glass falling off...but if this other company can make it all power to them and itl be a future mod of mine

I am ready to order one .... !

That would look greally good on your car. :-O

I'm actually arranging a 'delivery meet' with a couple other BC guys in Seattle, WA. They're dying to eat at Baja Fresh because you don't have them up there haha. Should be at least 4 of us there. So that might work out for you also. I'm not sure when that's happening at this point though.

I will need orders for 10 before they are made. Your friend can contact me directly if he likes...

Does the CF hatch comes with the windows too ? or do i hv to make one for myself ? I dont wanna to take the stock windows out and put it into the CF hatch ..... too many work !

I've seen companies offer with our without. Meaning you use your stock glass or they can provide lexan. Lexan isn't really the best thing for street cars, so using stock glass is the best bet. I'm not sure on the complexity of the Protege 5 glass, but I would imagine it's something a body shop could do in not much time.

No, have not. I'm not a vendor on there so I wasn't sure how that would work. Do you mind posting a link to this thread?

Thanks.

if it can be done and work with no problem i am in for one let me know whats up. wilson

When will the G/B end? I just got into one for a CF hood so it may be a while till I can do the CF trunk. It really depends on how the next few weeks go.

I don't really have an ending date, I just need enough people to make it happen. :)

As it sits now, there are not many people interested. It's kind of a bad time of year for something like this anyway.

How will this hold up in a crash? Like a rear end impact? Wouldn't it need some kind of reinforcement?

What is it the stock piece does that you want the carbon replacement piece to do?

any chance of a lexan window instead of using factory glass? for weight savings and all...
