You probably could have gone another 30+ miles then. When my light comes, which it rarly does, it takes 12 gallons. Yeah, the milage kind of sucks for proteges. I do drive on the agressive side though......

I drove up to ME yesterday and was pretty easy on the engine. I averaged 75-80 on a 230 mile trip with about 20 miles of easy backroad driving in the middle and it took 8.05 gallons when i filled up.

That is a little over 29 and I expected over 30. Winter gas does not burn as efficient as spring/summer/early fall gas. I should have driven more agressive but oh-well........

I wouldn't recommend 'pushing it' (not because you might end up pushing it either! :) ) because the fuel pump is fuel-cooled in the tank. Run it low and it will get hot (not like burst-in-to-flames-hot) - just reduced life through heat stress.
