anyone been to the one by gwinnet place mall? Worth the trip? it's about a 45 min. ride for me.

We got like 7 here in Texas. Makes best buy looks like baby turds in a diaper.

Fry's has a godly amount of stuff in it. Definately worth checking out atleast once.

LMFAO!.. only Moeed would actually have pictures of Frys... Its a cool place though, I go to the same one as him. I feel like I have to dress up when I go in there. Its all "rich" looking, and they have a grand piano in the center of the store next to the coffee shop that plays music to all the speakers in the store.

Fry's is ginormous.
Every once in a while they will have a ridiculously awesome deal on some items.
The rest of the time, there prices are just a'ight, not particularly cheap.
The best thing about fry's is they have pretty much everything there.

I wanna see pics. The one in austin has the front of the store shaped like a friggin huge grand piano. I heard the one in houston has a big ass wailing guitar on the front. What is on the dallas store?

HH Gregg is the best place to shop,, and I work there. You don't run into the idiot salespeople that don't know jack like you would at a lot of these other stores. I went to Brandsmart today and I almost went blind when I went in there, way too much neon in that store.

brandsmart is "our" local store. we have 3 around my house

the one in georgia just opened right? brandsmart has great prices and most importantly they are negotiable. you will get a much better price on everything from a small oven to a large screen tv. small items such as irons and toasters are for the sticker. but go up to a salesperson and say "is this your lowest price" or "can you do better on this". he'll go up to the terminal and will pull up the info. you will see a lot of different prices. he will do this fast so try to notice the smallest one and aim for that price.
but in any case, their sticker prices are pretty much better than best buy, circuit city...

i don't know about other states, but fry's sucks here in CA (near fountain valley). most of the computer stuff i see there are repackaged, the salespeople don't know s***, and the return lines are ALWAYS full (looks like the day after christmas). it must tell you something. sure they carry a lot of stuff but i wouldn't waste my time there unless i was window shopping.

Orracle...make the trip...it's worth it. I've been there and spend about 45 minutes there and still didn't see everything!! It's like a Sam's Club/Costco sized Best Buy/Circuit City/ Hifi Buys/HHGregg/Barne's & Nobles all mixed into one. Even has it's own coffee shop inside.

They also have all the goodies from radio shack and local hobby store (little solar panels, minicomputers, roll-o-resistors, fans and motherboards and flashcards, oh my!)

Fry's started right here in the Bay Area and it's an awesome place. Fun to just go in and check out if that's all you want to do. Well worth the trip, and like the others said, you can pick-up some really good prices at times from their sales.

For example, tonight I'll be picking up some Maxtor 80GB ATA/133 HDD for making a Raid array for a mere $50 each. That's right, Retail packaged (not OEM) HDD for $50 each, beats even the best prices online by quite a bit.

A digital camera is kinda a big investment, I did some hella research before getting mine. There are just so many options and attirbutes to consider.
I wouldn't buy straight from a retail store unless I already knew what I wanted, and they happened to have it. But maybe I'm just picky.

thanks for the advise on visiting Fryes. Went saturday and had some fun shopping. Damn, what a huge store. Plenty of helpful people, ton of cashiers, and no waiting in lines. Bought the canon A95 and the IP6000.

Hehe, that is the same camera model I ended up getting, except it was a couple years ago, so it was the A40 instead. Mines getting a bit outdated now.

If you don't already have them(assuming you have any money left over), I would get some NimH rechargeable batteries to power the camera now. From what I've read, maha powerex seem to be the best out there. I got some 2000mah batteries(I think they now have up to 2500mah now). I also got a charger from them, model MH-C401FS, which is very nice. It charges 4 aa's at a time, but the cool thing is it has a separate charging circuit for each battery, so you can mix slightly drained batteries with very drained batteries, and they will all charge fine. Also has a switch for fast or slow charging, which is nice since slow charging extends overall battery life, and then fast for when you can't wait that long.
