FREE MPI help!

Great idea! Please begin working on instructions with screen shots. Most of the time any of the usb to serial cables will work, We just have to change the comm port the cable uses and the comm port the MPI software uses as well ...

Definately add that if they dont have the green wire they need the mpi blue wire to ground resistor too. (1.2k i think it was)

Other than that the instructions tim has are great.

If anyone has usb issues or laptop issues i can help as well. ive helped several people here with their mpi pc issues.

They should also add what turbo and spec's they have with there maps...not everyone has the same turbo...also I would like to know where other's have there turbo module set to come on....

yea and if u unhook the laptop and u cant get ur logs to play, change the com in mpi to a port where it doesnt say its invalid and they will work again. alot of people have that issue too.

with the belkin usb adaptor u have to install it first and make sure the com is 1-4, sometimes it will install it 6-whatever and mpi wont see anything above 4. its changed in device manager (i can write a tip sheet)

great! try to take screen shots for each step and then write the instrctions to the side of the screen shot and the instructions should be outlined in a colored square and the color square should have an arrow pointing to the picture displaying the action or step to be taken!!!!

Yeah, my usb-serial came with good instructions, but it could be a PITA for anyone who doesn't know how to change the setting in the device manager.

Sounds good!!! Ok! anybody else have anything to share etc.????? Come on! there has to be others who have great ideas.... We need to make sure that this is a living document and can be updated when needed as well, others things to add are I got a friend who will host a server for us to store these instructions a long with a comprehensive MAP database, This will allow for us to add links to our threads and not have to worry about uploading things and overloading this site....

When have you seen no green wire on the TM? Unless it was one of the VERY FIRST ones, there should be a green wire. It's 1.1k on the green wire, or you can use two 2.2k's in parralel to get the 1.1k if you can't find a 1.1k resistor.

the last one i installed had no green wire. i think it was chas's old one.

nick said it was a 1.2k resistor so im glad that chas had one on there. i just resoldered it cause it was hangin.

even if it is the first one, i think it wouldnt hurt to be in there since they do exist. know what i mean.

That one was the one Nick tested things on. I have a blue wire on mine, but it's for power not MAF, so it's not a good idea to say that. If someone encounters that, they need to talk to someone FIRST!

yea neversobers had 2 power wires, the navy one and the other one thats in the instructions. i encountered that too. took me a while to figure out thanks to 505 zoom

Hey Bigg Timm, I want to recognize all your efforts to make owning a MPI tuned Mazda an awesome experience!

Thanks Man!

(not to mention, thanks for helping me when my main fuse popped out while going down the interstrate!)

so........
I finised building my MSP recently, and haven't got to drive it for s***.
I installed a MPI tuner(new),and I can't get the SOB to run right.
I know the wiring is correct(you would have to be a tard to **** it up.)

my analog, and my injection MAP are both at 0 all the way,and I am off the wide band rich.

I don't know how to post my maps, but I do know how to email them to any one that can help

BTW,my AIM is stuckhatchet

I really need to get this running ASAP! any help would be awsome.

Wicked, i tried telling you in one of the threads how to post your maps.
Go into your USER CP
on the very left column at the bottom theres an "UPLOAD ATTACHMENTS" link click on it
then you can upload any kind of file you want into your user cp, load your maps, and or datalogs
Then once they are uploaded you can right click on it and go to preferences to find the web address of the loaded file. Copy that, and paste it into a post.
Hope that helps

I pm'ed wicked to call me, be waiting by the BT becuase you know at some point I'll be callin the man for answers...

Check on the left side of the SW and see what the Analog Out V is at. It should be around 2.08v. If it is not, then you want to add or subract numbers from the red cursor box on the Analog map until you get it around that voltage. And you would be surprised to know how many people mess up the wiring. It's not that they're tards, but somethings just get overlooked sometimes, or not hooked up properly. I'll PM you my email address.

jBreed--no problem man, I am always willing to help fellow MPIers out. It's all about supporting the product and the man!

your talking about the blue on the TM right. im talking about a resister on the blue MPI wire and grounded to the Black MPI wire.

If u dont want to list it thats ok, i just didnt think it would hurt to add incase someone gets one. i mean i did.
