FM Turbo

So many questions!

Instead of popping new electronics in, I'd far rather put in a bung. Any muffler shop can do this quickly, cheaply and easily. Just make sure you put the O2 sensor bung somewhere where the sensor isn't trying to poke through the transmission tunnel or drag on the ground. Not rocket science. Given what I've seen of how the OBD-II system will do little tests to check cat efficiency, I suspect it's also going to be more reliable.

Blackwidow, I don't know. As I said, I haven't heard if Corky did that install or not. See my earlier post about bellhousing size. I don't anticipate any radical changes. We just haven't got access to automatic Proteges here (nearest dealer is 250 miles away) to check for ourselves.

I think an auxiliary tranny cooler would be a reasonable idea. It certainly couldn't hurt unless it's plumbed in wrong.

I saw that you guys would do the install. When my money gets right I would not have any problems shipping the car up there. I was thinking of letting you guys do the install to make sure the fuel regulator and voltage clamp is done correctly. I would much rather come to the shop and buy my kit anyway to save on shipping cost. This will prove to be cheaper if I have any fitment problems. I would just need someone to get me from the airport. Would this be possible in the near future Keith?

Tell me that the new IC install will not need the front bumper removered.

You should be able to install with out removing the front bumper. You should be able to remove the uper grill and install from the top.

Doggone....if FM can come up with a FMIC...than can be installed without removing the bumper...they are beyond the level of genious that they have already achieved! :) (You have to remove the bumper.....a turbo install is not "easy")

Yeah its just really difficult to fit one in there, especially something like a 3". Not sure on actualy space but I think that might require them making a whole new piping kit, which they may have done, I havn't seen their FMIC. Wagner is the only one thought that allows you to install the FMIC without taking the bumper cover off. On a sid enote, you will get good at taking it off and putting it back. Its really not hard and doesn't take long.

hmmm....I stand corrected..... (takes foot out of mouth)

interesting design from wagner.... only concern that I would have is the amount of space that the FMIC is taking from radiator.

I have done it already. I installed the MP3 front bumper on my ES.

I just don't want to take it off again.

If you work from top and bottom you should be able to do it.

FM is coming out with a full front IC, which piping will route on either side like your spearco IC. SO, if wagner can do it so can everyone else.

here is a pic of the intercooler, you have to remove the upper grill and slide it in. it is held on by the bolt on the hood latch.

Whats the thickness of teh IC, maybe that would explain why others didn't do it that way. Looks like 2/12. MAybe larger ones just wouldn't fit?

im pretty sure it is 2.5". The intercooler works well, the piping is ice cold after any driving. It is a Spearco core.

Yes i have the wagner kit, it is awesome.

im running 7.5 psi right now, yea it has two high flow cats. His kit replaces the first cat with a radom technology high flow cat, he also offers a mid pipe which replaces the 2nd cat w ith a high flow cat as well.

With regards to removing the bumper cover to install the IC - I'm pretty sure there's not enough room to slip our big IC between the bumper substructure and the radiator. You certainly would never be able to access a number of the intercooler joints. The routing of our piping also requires two 2.5" holes to be drilled in a piece of sheetmetal, and you're not going to do that with the bumper in place. It's so easy to take the bumper off that it's just not an issue.

Hiboost requires.....(1) 2.5" hole on the passenger side and (1) 3" hole on the driver's side.

Cuttin the hole with a hole saw and a good electrical drill was very easy.

no cutting invovled in my kit, just have to bend a small piece of plastic out of the way. Also nothing hangs below the car. you can see the IC pipes from under the car, put it is above the tow hooks.

The new IC should be available as soon as we can get some stock in. I would guess a couple of weeks until we can ship one.

Blackwidow, sorry. I missed your question last time. We can certainly pick you up at the airport. We do it with customers all the time. Give us a call to arrange a time for an installation. We do have to charge 7.65% sales tax on kits that we don't ship though.
