FM Turbo

Hey, Keith? Could you by any chance post a pic of what the holes and bumper trimming looks like and where it is located? More because I'm just curious. =) Thanks!

Doggone,
If we raise the price of the turbo kit, yes. We have a flat rate for shipping in the US, otherwise we charge whatever it costs. If you're trying to pit us against them for a better deal, we don't play that game.

Pics of the intercooler are below. The cardboard template shows the location of the two holes. There's nothing on the other side, so no concerns about nailing wires:

it is a little more than three seconds faster to 60mph and runs a 14.5 in the 1/4 mile versus a high 17 or low 18 from a stock p5. make no mistake about it, its very very quick. :)

14.5! Nice! How much PSI were you running when you ran that? What octane?

Keith, hope you don't mind if jack your thread fo a minute or two ;)

Someone asked earlier about the stock IC pipes hanging low so i took a pair of pictures illustrating their position against the plastic bumper guard;

hope those help. Keith, no chance if I bought your FMIC upgrade that you guys could do those pipes in red to match mine is there :)? Corky did that on some of the initial kits including mine and I think Ken told me when I visited you did only black pipes.

Is the red one the pipe?

yes it is, basically i was aiming to illustrate that the pipe is barely visble from a low angle and practically not at all from looking straight on.

Nicest kit I've seen in pictures.

Plus, I don't want to over do it on this car.

Trying to push 240whp on a 9:1 CR engine is pushing it.

You can get 240 whp on a 9:1 - we get 350 out of our race car's motor at that compression. Not on stock internals...

We might be able to arrange red pipes for the prototype folks. Not that you'd be able to see them - they're pretty much hidden on the new setup. I've put some new photos up on our site that show ground clearance: www.flyinprotege.com/projects/current_projects.asp

I ment with stock internals. Sorry.

Keith that looks good. Can't wait to get one. I wonder if the dyno numbers will change.

We haven't got proof of that yet, but I don't anticipate any change.

As for the stock internals and 9:1 - it depends on the internals. Some cars are stronger inside than others. Even the same engine with different production years can have different internals. The 1990-97 BP used in the Miata is stronger than the 1999+ BP. We think the heat-treating changed on the rods.

Your the man Keith.

170whp at the wheels at 6psi with 2.5" exhaust with factory cats is the way to go. Great job.

What do you think is the max safe boost for the FS-DE 2.0, for prolonged usage? It would seem to me with good and regular maintainence, the engines would probably be safe at 7.5psi, or so, but I'm not really in a position to say. =)

I'm mostly interested in seeing the car peak 200 ft/lbs of torque. =) Mmmm, torque.
