So many questions!
Instead of popping new electronics in, I'd far rather put in a bung. Any muffler shop can do this quickly, cheaply and easily. Just make sure you put the O2 sensor bung somewhere where the sensor isn't trying to poke through the transmission tunnel or drag on the ground. Not rocket science. Given what I've seen of how the OBD-II system will do little tests to check cat efficiency, I suspect it's also going to be more reliable.
Blackwidow, I don't know. As I said, I haven't heard if Corky did that install or not. See my earlier post about bellhousing size. I don't anticipate any radical changes. We just haven't got access to automatic Proteges here (nearest dealer is 250 miles away) to check for ourselves.
I think an auxiliary tranny cooler would be a reasonable idea. It certainly couldn't hurt unless it's plumbed in wrong.
