Linuxracer and Captain KRM P5: You both state alot of mileage on your turbo kits yet you've both blown up engines if I recall correctly. Was all this mileage done since your last rebuild?

I believe nitrous killed linuxracer's car.

I am fast approaching 10,000 miles on my kit. Everything is still running like new!

No blown engines, no jacked up tranny. Just smooth reliable transportation...

I have more like 30-40k mi on my kit.

Ok, since my "last" rebuild in May I have over 20,000 more miles on my kit. THis time I have forged internals and an o-ringed block. I have about 40,000 mi on my turbo kit total, and 80,000 mi total on my car. I drive 45 mi one-way to work 4 nights a week.

I;m talking about the second time. When he blew his FS-ZE.

I never blew my FS-ZE. Remember before I put the turbo kit in, I had a shop investigate the FS-ZE block, and they found gouged cylinder walls, and eaten rod bearings. I got the cylinders bored out, and put in overbore pistons with the STOCK 9.1:1 compression. So essentially, my turbo career has only seen the FS-ZE intake cam. Other than that, I never put boost on when I was FS-ZE'd.

I actually just found the thread where you stated that. Thanks for the clarification.

I was sure that when you blew your engine because of the turbo, you mentionned that it was because you had some weak rods from your FS-ZE. I will go find that thread and read up on it since I probably misunderstood.

Is there a problem with removing the stock cats, running a free flow exhaust on a turbo and burning valves?
I know from experience a low back pressure will cause the valves to become burned.(or does the turbo itself provide sufficient back pressure to address this problem?)

I will state this ONE LAST TIME for everyone whom did not go back and read the multiple threads posted about my first engine. Bell Engineering, Flyin' Protege, the turbo, the kit, the fuel pressure regulator and God himself - were NOT IN ANY WAY responsible for the death of that engine. That engine blew thanks to my own foolishness through the use of a GReddy Boost Controller. I did not have the FPR set to deliver extra fuel, I did not even have the extra fuel pump installed at that time that FP now includes with the kit - and I still decided to set my boost at/above 10 psi. The engine blew. This would happen on any turbo kit for this car. It is not a problem and never was a problem related to this kit.

I am sorry if the tone of this post seems negative but I have seen FP take a lot of flak from forum members because the impression is that the FPR or thier kit somehow magically causes engine explosions. It was user error - period. I apologize for any negative press or PR that I caused Flyin' Protege because of my own stupidity.

With that said, I have on this engine and turbo kit over 12,000 miles with NO hesitation, NO check engine lights, NO knock, FLAWLESS driveability and very nice power.
