First impressions

Well they had to sell the car for MSRP, which I didn't mind, but I did them to throw in tinted windows and short ram air in take, of which you only need one piece and it comes a cold air intake, I will post the pictures for you.

$26,995 + $905 (frieght, PDI, etc.), $125 for paint (don't have the paperwork with me right now but will check that) then because I live in the canada all the taxes, $100 air conditioning tax, $20 battery tax, $25 tire tax, plus 7% GST (tax) 7.5% PST (tax)

I leased it , Zero down, Zero security deposit, etc...$454 a month CDN. or roughly $280USD.

Ouch...that's 3K more than what I paid for my spec V in full, INCLUDING winter tires...

I hope you got winter tires thrown into the deal.

Yeah and I had the bologna sandwich instead of the Steak sandwich.

Owch, thats 4 $ more than I paid for my bologna sandwich, hope they threw in a pop.

I would not feel very good after eating bologna either, but YOU ordered it.

Now you have had time to eat it, digest it and live with its aftereffects, your whole tone and demenour says you wish you would of ordered Steak, because bolgna sucks.

And all you can say is "you paid to much"

I might have yes. But as you know full well, steak is worth every cent.

wipe the tears from your eyes.

LOL

Yeah, enough with the damn Spec V. We know you have it, you don't need to reiterate in every one of your posts.

No, I'm just surpirsed, because I thought it would be the exact same price :/ Kinda surpirsed me when it wasn't.

And no I'm not sad, nor jealous (cept for the crazy handling), just kinda baffled, because people have been claming they'd be the same price.

Guess not :/

I like my car...makes more power than your car na, and on the same level of boost makes 250 to the wheels :/

But 3 K is alot of modding.

But yea yea you guys got a limited production car, so I guess you pay for the glamour.

Here we go again

The damn stereo alone is probably worth close to 3 grand. factor in the tires, turbo, custom interior, perimiter alarm, racing harts, racing beat sway bars, tokico's, not even counting little stuff i.e. peddles, shifter etc etc..some other ~1400 changes to take into account....gee all that for 3 grand above the spec v.

Don't sound so bad to me.

I like the Spec V. But, it just crosses me as a Family car with nice wheels on it ( Got better colors though). Mazda went the extra mile and it shows.

But PLEASE, let us not debate this crap over and over again. It's getting old.

Enjoy your winter tires :)

btw, winter tires and rims....about 500-600 CDN....big deal.

Mazda did go all out...but a turbo that makes 170 hp at the crank isn't too impressive.

The Audio yea, it's nice...but I've had bad experience with kenwood.

the things that I think would be totally worth it, are the wheels, they're SEXY :) and MUCH better tires, if someone says they suck in the rain, give one spin on the stock conti's for the spec v, you'll be sliding everywhere.

yes, the shifter (the spec v one sucks) and the pedals (don't make a diffrence) and I like side impact air bags.

But I guess that premeter alarm is worth it too...

but no sunroof, imobilizer key, nor side impact air bags.

But yea..I guess that does cover the costs.

sure..the Spec V looks like a family car with wheels...so does the MSP with a redesigned front and sideskirts, wing, and tires (same with the spec)

but looks go to the MSP too.

are we almost through here daemos?

why would the price suprise you? the MSRPs on both cars have been official and public information for quite some time now.....

i hate to say the following because i really dont want to encourage you here, and do so wish you would relegate comparisons to threads titled "Should I get a spec-v or a MSP?" but oh well....

might wanna take making more power than the msp off your list unless ur talking about the crank, which isnt really relevant, both cars were dyno tested at 150whp in the SCC 8 car shootout......

yea I'm done...the only reason I'm here is because my bro is gonna get his car soon, and right now it's up between a P5 or a Civic Sir.

I'm compairing both cars...

oh yea btw...the true engine power of the spec V is 160 whp...well the JDM version of the engine puts that down because it doesn't have the balance shafts...

But yea back to why I'm here.

I'm here comparing the various after market and pros and cons of each cars.

now just based on my bias towards any kind of civic in general (everybody and their mother owns a civic) I would of went with the civic because of the aftermarket.

But since I don't like civics...I was leaning towards the p5, but I gotta make a non-biased opinion soon.

any help with my problem?

My brother is kinda turned off of the aftermarket of the P5 just because he was informed of a less than stellar tranny serength...

please don't start going into price wars, they're not needed, yes I know the Civic SIr is quite a bit more expensive...but those are what he is gonna decide against.

i just wanna know if digi short ram intake makes more power for the mazdaspeed , and if that option is going to be availble for other dealerships

actually the short ram intake when extended about 3 more inches and mounted properly will actually end up being a CAI, it definatly spools up the tubo sooner around 3600rmp instead of 4000 as for actual HP gain no idea.

This argument is irrelvant. The whp is 150 for both. The JDM car is not what you have.

...My brother is kinda turned off of the aftermarket of the P5 just because he was informed of a less than stellar tranny serength...

Tranny handles 240 whp on a regular basis in the SWC cars...That is pretty decent for a stock tranny.

daemos, maybe you should start a diff thread with that question in it for best results.

I would say go with the p5 just because i really dont like the looks on the si...i think the si is a big disappointment.....as was said in SCCs 8 car shootout, the si kind of invented the whole sport compact car class to a certain extent and now its the worst of the lot...

look at the january 2003 issue of SCC and read the review of the si....it shows how it compares to the rest of its class. Granted the p5 is no better in any department than the things it knocks the si for, but with the p5 you know ur getting a little sporty wagon, whereas with the si, you may think you are getting a better performing car than you really are.

that being said, the siR may be a totally different animal than the US si which im thinking of, in which case ignore this entire post......

I just got a copy of SCC and they did an excellent write up and if it wasn't for the HP difference they would have given it to the MSP, but second is better than the civic in 8th

Digi 168 rember that u have to break in ur engine dont be ahuling ass soo much ur gonna blow ur engine..
Other than that i went through what ur going through when i test drove the MSP

Digi....did you notice any flat spots on the tires while driving...with the cars sitting there all summer I was thinking this maybe a possibility ?

No actually I didn't notice any at all, I didn't even really give it any thought, good point though, I will go take a closer look.
