Filling in Spoiler Holes?

I'm thinking about taking the spoiler off of my car. Does anyone know how much a shop would charge to fill in the holes and make it look like nothing was ever there? Is this even possible? I really wanna take the wing off but I don't want the holes to make the trunk look bad. Wingless MSPs look hot, imo. Any help's appreciated.

i like that wing. but yea you can do that. all that needs to be done is take it off, weld the hole shut, sand it down, and paint it. really easy, but im sure a shops going to charge you up the ass. a couple people did this, but with the holes under the emblems. i think a they paid like 300 or so. not sure, but theres a thread around here somewhere.

I see, anyone else have any estimates? $300 is a lot to fill some holes lol, but if that's what it costs I guess I'll have to do it. I'll probably get it done towards the end of summer if it's that much. Anyone else have any prices, or just general suggestions for going about doing this? Thanks.

I still have my trunk holes from taking my badges off, but the holes from the wing are quite a bit bigger. Unless you want to just out those caps in to seal it, the bodyshop is your only option.

they charge as much as they do because they have to repaint the whole trunk in most cases to make it look right. no matter if its for the badges or the spoiler they will charge u around 200-400 to cover the holes and reapint the trunk.

heres this. its for the emblem holes, but should work for what youre trying to do. http://www.protegemp3.com/vbb230/showthread.php?t=14144
That works fine for filling the holes, but you still have to paint them & I doubt that most people are skilled enough to do this on their own (you can't just use touch up paint & expect it to much your trunk). One way or the other, you're gonna have to get the whole trunk painted.

since you have a blue msp, why dont you just find someone with a blue dx or lx that wants the wing, and just swap trunk lids? just a thought.

Are the other blue protege's laser blue mica? I thought they were just laser blue. Thanks for the idea, if they're the same paint I might do that, although I'd then have to take off the badges etc, and probably bend them to hell.

Yup they do come in laser blue!

Found this on the Mazda site:

2003 Proteg LX VIN: JM1BJ225531202793 MSRP: $16,375.00*

4-SPEED AUTO OD TRAN

2.0L DOHC 4-CYL ENG

LASER BLUE MICA

GRAY (LX) CLOTH

HAMILTON MAZDA (30 miles)

If you fill the holes, sometimes you can find a detailing shop who will paint it for ya. We got some guys here who would do it, perfectly color matched, clear coated, the works, for about 20-30$... but I think they're one of those special only-one-place-like-this-on-earth kind of garages.

**a belated message**

it shouldnt be terribly hard to find someone who wants an msp wing, infact you could prolly make a couple of bucks in the process. good luck man.

One thing to keep in mind. My bf swapped trunk lids on his car because he didn't like his spoiler. And the 3rd brake light is mounted in stock spoilers. He's been running for almost 3 years without that brake light and not gotten caught, but it is technically illegal. I agree that the MSP does look good without a spoiler though.
