BigPun, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)
make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.
Welcome!! (stash)
BEFORE you go out and spend ANY money on a new gauge set from a LX.....you better look into seeing IF the DX wiring harness is the same....meaning that the connections are there for the tach....I THINK I heard someone try this in the past and found out tha the harnesses were NOT the same.....and thus the plugs/connections for the tach were not there...thus the tach was not NON-FUNCTIONAL.....kind of defeats the purpose of putting that cluster in there in the first place....
SO....I would check into that if I were you ..... it could be as easy as pulling your gauges out and seeing if there is a plug back there for the tach.
ok, so what do i all need for the tach? dos the dx/s have te tach harness just lying around behind the gauges? i'll find a guage cluster easy, but i need to know if i need any wires etc.
btw- would the shop manual help me with the conversion?
ok, i've checked into it and it won't work. you'd think that mazda would go ahead and leave the tach wires in place for the gauges, but in reality they do not use the tach gauge wires on the DX's socket. you'll have to tap the tach wires into the socket in the correct places in order to run a LX+ gauge cluster.
