Engine wont start after rebuild

i got 2 connectors there same place....not the same wire color.....but there's the top one(like your describing) and then the connetion goes under that side of the tranny

I still can't find anything. The connector and the eyelit I found that wasn't hooked up was running in the same loom of wires that the altenator and the starter runs through except these two connector break from the loom right before it goes under the intake manifold. I'll still be looking through the afternoon and night if I find it I will let you guys know. I'll check back here frequently incase anyone finds anything. Thanks again for all the help!

Hey bgibb68 if it's not to much of a problem could u take a picture of that area you would have to emove your cold air intake to see it clearly. Maybe then I could pick out the general area and I could find it. I'm running out of ideas here. If you could that would be great if not that's fine too. If you want to email my email is adubb26@yahoo.com or you can post them up here.
Thanks
Tony

ok went and looked at the car. seems like it connects on rear tranny side. if you look at TB follow straight down there should be a sensor for it. i had same problem after rebuilding engine. i beleive its speedo sensor.

on it holmes....

Both the tranny sensors r plugged in on the tranny there's one on the front side and the bottom of the tranny I have both those plugged in and can't find anymore connectors around or on the tranny.

that's just really weird....you didn't 'lose' any connections or cover something up did ya

The wire is almost under the tb more back twords the firewall you can follow the loom to the starter and it's the first connector that branches off before the starter I'll take another pic of it.

That third picture would be perfect if it was taken from standing on the drivers side of the engine bay. More at an angle of looking straight at the starter. Thanx for the pics too

Ugh. My car is two hours away from me right now. I wish I could help more, because I really want to figure out what that connects to. The suspense is killing me.

well i live in minnesota and its super cold out now so if anyone feels like there up to it hey hit me up we can figure something out.

lol...sorry man, but I'm in Ames, Iowa right now, and I'm plenty cold without having to go farther north.

I was just saying earlier that my car is not here in Ames with me, but I wish it was so that I could be of more assistance in identifying components.

Aren't the p5 and regular protege motors pretty much identical? I'm running a 2.0L in my 2001 Protege LX, but I've got the auto tranny. So in reality, I'm not sure how much help I'd actually be :)

well if he's got the 1.6 or 1.8( i have no ideas what motors they put in those) it's probably different....and with you having the auto, there would only be a few things different

Yeah, if I'm thinking correctly, the 2001 year was the last one that had a 1.6L engine. That year we had a choice of the 1.6 or 2.0 (the 1.8 wasn't offered in the US, I don't think). From then on all the Proteges had 2.0L engines.

ahh....dude i have no clue what that connection goes to.....there has to be something somewhere
