Engine Swaping

Hey I have a question I currently have a 2003.5 Laser Blue Mica and I'm wondering what types of other engines we can swap into our or if it is even worth it?

I was thinking about attempting to throw in a Evo Engine but I'm not sure if it's cost effective and/or possible for that matter.

the only engine worth swapping is a KLZE or KLDE... which bolts right in aside from the electrical. you can also buy forged engine internals for the protege, but that doesnt help with the transmission issues.
aside from those options, how deep are your pockets? got 10 grand to spend on it?

Well pocket-wise i was think whatever I can get for my engine plus 6-7 grand.

KLZE or KLDE turbo is a nice swap for an N/A Protege IMO. For an MSP I would say just forge it. (thumb)

why not just build and throw some bolt ons on there? like a disco potato turbo, turbo back exhaust sri then an ems and you can easily get 250hp

you can do 250 on a stock block as long as youre not an idiot about it. why would you shell out 10+ grand to swap a stock evo engine in it unless you were looking for 600whp? doesnt add up. either forge the FSDE or switch to KLDE-T or KLZE.
im no expert on KLZE but you can probably get close to 250 whp on that with just bolt-ons, all motor...

Just start a build on a spare motor and build that S**T!!! and slap a GT30 or GT28 on it and get a standalone and be happy

Ok so what would be the percs of building a spare rather than just forging my now motor and then building it, other then still having a car to drive?

+1, Im going to probably go to a junkyard to look for a block, take it to a machine shop and get it cleaned up and everything and work on that while still driving with the stock motor in the car. Once the other one is finally complete, Im going to swap them out and continue modding til I can't mod anymore..lol

getting a motor worked on takes time. if its your daily driver get a spare block. i had no choice since my fp died so i just grabbed an fs and forged it. sucks not having my car though

Pistons rods and bearings are going to cost you 1500 minimum
