Engine Moaning from Left Side?

Yesterday me and my wife were out driving and shopping and what not and at some point in the day i noticed the car started to sound like it was moaning, at first i thought it was the power steering but it moaned ALL the time, not just when i turned. My brother and my dad looked at it and they think its the water pump (they did that thing where you put like a screw driver against it and hold the handle up against your ear, and it seemed to be definitely coming from the water pump).

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions or experience in this? Thanks!

How long has the water pump been on there? Not sure, then replace it soon! If it does decide to go it could be catastrophic (instant over heat and possible cracked head). I had this exact thing happen to me in a Topaz (WHAT) ya a Topaz. It was cheaper for me to replace the car than to repair it.

yeah, im hopin so! in Jesus name im picking up a new one today, for $42... plus the gasket stuff and coolant. yippy!...... lol

i got the new water pump yesterday, just gotta install it! prolly will do it on saturday! ill definitely keep ya updated!

Well, was the water pump the problem?

Nope. I replaced the water pump and the noise was still there. It turns out it was the NEW alternator, it had a bad bearing! So i got a NEW NEW alternator and now everything is good to go! lol replaced the new alternator with a new alternator and no more noise lol. jeez.

was it a kinda elcectronic tone sound not high pitched but kinda annoying? I have some wierd noises going on under my hood

definitely annoying. but i wouldnt call it electric, it almost sounded like a bad power steering pump like that little annoying moaning whistle kinda thing. really hard to describe lol

yeah lol definitely get a video, and if it sounded like mine than thats prolly what it is!
