Engine Ground kit

Stand back from your engine bay and take a good look. Is your engine bolted to the frame? Mine isnt, its bolted to the frame using RUBBER mounts that do not conduct electricity. The only thing I found grounding the engine were two little ground leads and a few other small devices (electrical equipment odds and ends). What the factory gives you is only what the car need to run. Your spark plug needs a good ground to work to its full potential. All I did was ground the engine the most to the battery. The next line I will install will be from the alternator to the engine and the alternator to the frame because the alternator is what supplies the power when you car is running.

Ooh, I've been meaning to ask someone who installed those motor mounts a question. After you installed them, did you notice more vibration? When/If my stock mounts need to be replaced, I'll probably use them.

ya it did vibrate some more. but the ground kit, and spark plug wires helped smooth it out a little bit.

yeah...those two mods are something I wanna do...but I think I am gna get the apexi-rsm before any of that...a guy is selling it for pretty cheap over on another mazda forum

I just picked up a '03 P5 and I would like to try the grounding kit...

thanks!
Tim

Here is a list of all the places I grounded on my car. See overall pic #2 for some of the connection points (picture is old and is missing a few hit points)
- three times on the valve cover to the battery
- left engine mount to the battery
- top alternator bolt to the battery
- top of intake manifold to the battery
- ground wires attached to gold bracket at the front right of the engine to the battery
- twice from the engine to the frame
- fuse box frame to the battery
- transmission bellhousing to the battery
- frame to the battery
TOTAL 12

If you need more pics let me know.

Id be interested in making this kit after some of the Q's are answered. How long did the install take? Are you going to do a How-To?

Wow my old thread came back to life. It was just a bunch of power wire for car audio. I bought a small spool and had some left after doing a few locations so i said what the hell and just finished off the spool. Just be sure to solder all the ends to your connectors. All the stuff I just picked up at the local car audio shop. Some other pics have been requested so I will take them this weekend and post them. The car will still shock you, what you need is a grounding leash to stop that from happening.

Subbing cause I want to try this, Also whats a ground leash? cause I get it every time I get out of the cars too

man, i was just doing a thread search just about that. very excited to do that. Should be in the very, very near future. going to do a search on some good brand name kits

DIY gang.

Used this how to, got all the materials on my own and yer done. No expensive aftermarket kits to deal with.
