I'm looking to get an EBC, so just wondering what you guys think is a good, relatively inexpensive one. Also, where's the best place to buy online. Thanks.

yeah, i dont need a high end one with all the bells and whistles...just a solid one that works

Cheapest EBC I've ever seen is the GReddy Profec B Spec-II @ around $315. If you need a boost controller that 'just works' then look into an MBC.

I've already tried 2 MBC, and they both crapped out I think. I went to SPD Racing in San Diego (very cool place btw), and FC3's Boy looked at my car and I told him I had problems with boosting with MBC's. They said its most likely that the MBCs get blocked from oil running through the vacuum, which they said is normal. Anyway, they really said I should look into getting an EBC because it uses the electronic solenoid, etc. I dunno, I was just thinking about it to see what options there are...

I have and really like my Greddy Profec B spec II, but I can't compare it to others. Personally I think the controls and overboost protection it offers more than make up for the difference in cost between it and a MBC. Just my opinion though.

But I feel your pain, I've dropped so much money into my car. . .first it was just $4k for the turbo, then $1k for this and $1k for a bunch of that. . .and so on. . .it never ends.

Yeah, I'm starting to think its better just to pay more up front to get it right the first time around, instead of buying cheap stuff over and over....

I would get the greddy profec B off ebay. Ive seen them used for $200 and new for around $290 shipped. That is probably the most inexpensive ebc you will find and it works great.

yup, I like my Greddy Profec B Spec II. It's great. I got mine from http://www.*************.com it's run by JDM Sam (a member of this board)

I'd also (and plan to) get the greddy Profec B spec II.

Matthew, i think Ken has the regular Profec B, if you wanted to ask someone about it.

greddy profec b

Works great no spikes easy to adjust. Got mine used for 174.00 . I was lucky it was a display model that had a small crack in it . But it works great Thanks discreet .

yea right now im using a joep mbc which sucks. i dont care how many people give good reviews it still sucks.

and if you plan on putting in a turbo its the biggest pain in the ass (as opposed to already having one in the MSP)...i was trying to tune my car and the thing takes about 1/1432910732097213097409213874 of a turn to give you 1-2 PSI sometimes and then several times i barely turned it and i boosted 10-11 PSI (OUCH!). plus its a pain in the ass to drive down the road and stop in every parking lot to hop out, open the hood, and adjust the controlller. i was going to run the vacuum lines inside the cab and into my arm rest storage area but no one around here sells long enough pieces of vacuum line, and im lazy.

I don't know if I wanna get a used one, just in case it goes bad..can't return it under warranty. Especially if you bought it off ebay, I guess some manufacturers won't replace items bought off ebay..

You can buy a range of EBCs (Blitz, Apex'i, Greddy, HKS) at:

http://www.edoperformance.com

They are located in Austin, TX. I've used them before and prices/service are excellent. I am debating between the AVC-R and SBC I-D III.

Peace...(hippy)

Went to EDO Performance's website, here's what happened:

I placed an online order for a Profec B spec II, didn't get any email invoice or confirmation. So about 2 hrs later I email them, asking whats up. Another couple hrs pass. Then I get an email from them stating they don't have them in stock and they're waiting for a shipment from Japan. But they can get me one from a local store for more money. I check my credit card online, and they've already charged it. So I email them back and ask if the new price includes shipping and how fast can they get it out. Its been about another 2 hrs and I probably won't hear anything from them today since its after business hours now in TX......pretty ******* gay if you ask me...

Maybe its me, but I'm used to fairly fast transactions on the web, and how long does it take to at least shoot out an email to let me know whats going on. Like I'm not worthy of 30 ******* secs to send an email....

Patience grasshopper :D

Did you actually talk to anyone there? Call them up tomorrow. They're pretty cool about working things out.

Seriously, my experience with them has been very positive on two separate occasions and the price always included shipping (except I have to pay the damn state sales tax). Let me know via PM if you don't hear from them tomorrow.

Peace...(hippy)

Yes you should be a little more patient. I always allow at least 24 hours for someone to get back to me via email. Just because email is sent nearly instantly doesn't mean that it will be checked instantly.

I'm sure it will be worked out.

hallman's are suppossedly the best, and they have the cockpit-adjustable one. Though 80 bucks for a line is pretty damn expensive. A used EBC is definitely the way to go. Profec-B usually is simpler and has less quirks. Alot of people have problems with spec II remembering the boost it ran before it was turned off last, but it's just a setting. Another plus is you can usually find a used profec b for about 160, which isn't too bad considering a dual stage mbc is pretty close in price.

I called them today and it seems things got worked out..we'll see..

No big deal I guess, I'm just used to faster transactions and communication. Oh well.
