Hey anyone here has made any attempts in drifting the speeds at all? (i know i know fwd) but it's fun to hear peoples experiences in succeeding! (angel) or failing.... (fight) hehehe

I tried drifting once in a empty parking lot after it rained and I seemed to be able to drift a little. We have fwd cars though so its kind of hard.

I sure it's semi-possible, in an e-brake WOT kind of way...lol. You can do anything with the proper preasure and amount of e-brake to gas ratio.....I think I'll try next time it's wet, and see what happens

I was halling ass on a back road that is totall isolated, 2 of my friends have the phones with the walkey talkey type s***......and they got at either end of road to let me know if anyone was coming, and i hit this curve really hard, if you oversteer and counter steer after you get the ass end to come around it actually works, but if you **** up you're going to skid right off the road. I have always driven front wheels as daily drivers, and i had a POS one that i learned to drive like that in............Originally started with the little sprint cars, my cousins own, so i learned drifting early on at like 13. You can do it, but its not quite the same as rear wheel drive, cause the tires in back can't spin to keep your momentum

Tried? No. Done? Yes. Lift oversteer is the best way to do it. Go into a turn, turn sharp and lift hard. Back end will come out cause it unsettles the rear end. On FWD cars I've found you don't have to countersteer as much as RWD, and if you overcorrect you're totally ******. The back end comes out relatively easy on our car. I've never pulled the ebrake in an attempt to drift. The only times it's really happened to me are going into a turn too hot, or one time I accidently lifted and back came out. With our LSDs we can power out of it though, which is nice. Be careful, though. Attempting to drift is a great way to hit stuff.

cone killer is right, when i said counter steer i meant feather so u can keep the direction of momentum going thru the curve, it is easy to come out of tho....:)

wicked cool, i am goin to head out to a couple dealerships to have some fun with their cars, tee hee hee

went into an extremely shart 20 mph turn at 50 in rain....(done this before though and the speed didnt react like this) hit an oil slick and went sideways through the rest of the turn...alone in car, my old car was a 240sx with an sr20det and i drifted that frequently

nice car (240 with the sr20 swap.. mmmmm) as for drifting it seems to me that our cars have decent balance in corners.. at speed its fairly easy to get the back end tocome out, esp if the road is a little dirty.... (laugh)

FWD 'drifting' is not really drifting. It's just ass-dragging. But anyway, it isn't that hard to do with the e-brake.

As for everyone's obsession over 240's with sr20det swaps these days, go out and do one. You can have one done for 5 grand, including the car. Even less if you know what you're doing.

SR20s are gay....joke. I would go with the CA18DET. Iron block....high reving engine. And super cheap...you can get an CA for $500-$600. Lots of SR20 stuff fits on the CA with a little muscle. The only downfall is getting aftermarket help since they dont make CA stuff anymore. I just helped my buddy build his CA up...hihg compression T25R powered CA...spools up real fast.

Everyone and their mom has an SR20. A friend was talking to these guys in a riced out 240...or they called it a "Syilvia" And he asked what they were running, KA-T, CA or SR. They were like "CA and KA-Ts are gay...we only roll with SRs" I couldnt help but laugh for the poor 240s with SR20s in them....its a good engine but people are so narrow minded that they just think that SR20s are automatically associated with 240s.

I dont know why people dont turbo KAs more...they get awsome torque numbers and the internals are strong enough for around 300-400whp.<!--StartFragment -->

I should be getting a SR20DETTTT in my MSP soon. Quad turbo SR20 in Mazdaspeed! Scott...your brother's exhaust is loud.

yeah i was just going to turbo my KA but with 130,000 hard driven miles on the 240 i decided to put in an SR, mildly modded dyno'd 350hp to rear wheels

where I'm from sr20 swaps are relatively rare, and besides it doens't matter if everyone has one the sr20 is a quality jdm engine and a worthy swap for 240 owners. However I dont know if the popularity will grow because in canada cool cars like the s13 (actual jdm s13) FC3S and skyline r32's are becoming available for import at a reasonable cost (any car 15 years or older to be exact).

Isnt it the other way around in Japan...KAs are the hottest things to put in Syilvias? I was reading about yoshita factory 180sx with a turbo KA. I guess anything american is hot over in Japan. I remember when GM bought the Cady CTS from Matrix over...everyone in tokyo nearly had an heart attack. Im sure they are in love with Mustangs and Corvettes ZO6 and C5s...although us american are probally sick of seeing them. But I must say...I really like the new Mustangs.

Scott beat me to it: FWD and Dorifto do not mix. Besides, you have a car that handles great, why would you want the back end out except to rotate a little around a turn.

With FWD, it's ass-dragging, not drifting.

Wow, you bought the wrong car if you want to drift...seriously, do yourself a favor and sell it.

Go buy a nissan 240sx if you want to "drift"

Worst thread ive ever wasted my time reading.

My rx-7 does fine for drifting.....however I did find that the speed handles the going in reverse fast and cutting the wheel.........dont know what its called but it sure scares the hell outta people.

It's called a "J-turn," although I have also heard people refer to it as a "Rokford," as in Jim Rockford from Rockford Files, who was fond of the move.

I have a video of me Drfting... LOL if anyone wants to host it i can put it up tommorow...
