Downpipe install . . . How hard is it??

Seems like a lot of people have shops install it. Why is that?

What makes the install difficult?

From what I have done to the car so far nothing has been "hard." Its just time consuming due to stupid clamps, rusted bolts, stripped bolts, or mysterious brackets mentioned nowhere in the instructions.

I have 2X jackstands, 2X rhinoramps, and all of your basic tools.

Can anyone give me the lowdown on the procedure for an install? Briefly of course.

I wasn't planning on installing a dp until later but if im going to spend money on a custom AP tune then might as well finish the bolt ons.

I'd say the install isn't too bad. I was the same as you a month ago. But I said screw it and attempted the install anyways. I had some extra hands with me and it took a long time because I kept taking breaks and such. But hands down one of the best mods I have done next to the AP. I didn't run into any major hang ups or anything it was just time consuming. Just make sure you have a good jack and some jack stands as well. My most nerve racking moment was unbolting the engine and pulling it foward to get the stock cat out. But all in all one of the best mods you can do to this car.

plan a whole day for this and a spare vehicle in case you run into any snags. i've done mine a few times now by myself and the first time it took about 6 hours, after that i can probably do it in 3-4.

My dealer did it. Put in my CPE with cat DP. This way if they snap a bolt off the turbo they were able to fix it right then and there.

If its the cp-e downpipe the hardest part is getting the new one in position to bolt back on. But more or less its just time consuiming taking off bolts and what not. Took about 6 hours for me.

Did one recently on a MS3 for a friend. Install wasn't too bad, but both O2 sensors stripped out upon removal. Sucks for sure as they are expensive.

ya i mean unless u buy the downpipe brand new with all teh right parts dont give it to a shop becuase they will try to screw u any which way trust me..i sent mine to a shop and now they jsut keep adding on hours and hours for it.

Seems like these O2 sensors busting on the way out is a common occurence. How much to replace them, do they always break lol ??

I think the first sensor is 300+ and the second is around 100-150 i believe. I got mine off w/o issues. I just took it slow and used a lot of pb blaster.

its not too bad at all just take ur time..plan on a whole day as said before.. and make sure to have some beers on hand in-case u get pissed off..id say the hardest part is finding all of the little 8mm heat sheild bolts, some of them are in hard to find spots.. i installed mine at the same time as the PG V3 manifold, so i found it wicked easy to get everything bolted back into place and lined up.. ohh and make sure u have some PB blast and spray the bolts very good before attempting to get them out.
