Just because YOU don't like it doesn't make it rice. It is considered a safety feature on other makes of vehicles.

It came stock on my Mother-In-Laws Ford Exploder. Its an option on some other high end vehicles both foreign and domestic.

So just because YOU don't like it, doesn't make it rice.



It is a good idea and MAZDA should have offered it as an option from the factory.


I say hook it up to the dome light so when you remotely unlock the doors it provides light to the door handles and around the car at night.

Do they sell a kit for the interior door handles?
My passengers always complain they have a hard time finding the handles when they want to get out at night.(smash)

im sure u could work some kind of magic to custom fab a kit for inside, but they are kinda long to place inside that handle area. sorry for no pics, im gonna go rip my door open now and see what wires i can tinker with so i can get this hooked up. ill make sure to get some pics up somehow that show the pre-install lights so u can see the size and layout fo them. and i agree with everyone, i want to attempt to wire them to my door locks so they come on at the point of me pressing the keyless entry. off i go.

bmws have this feature, how is it rice. i think it's nice to be able to see your door handle in the dark so you don't scratch up your paint fumble for the handle. i say go for it. let us know how it looks when you get finished

yea because with our keyless entry i always scratch up my paint with my.....fingers prints...... (jerkit)

Well I think this is an awesome Idea. It's not really rice beacause it's only on for a few seconds, and not really a show-off piece per say, rather just an aid light....if this is rice, I guess your dome and map lights are rice also...hell, better lose the parking lights and trunk light while your at it.

So it's a puddle lamp? Looks like a cool thing for lighting up the ground as you approach your car from outside. Wouldn't do much as you are existing your car because the door would be swung open. Nonetheless, still cool and different.

well day one was a complete failure..i managed to get them to blink with remote being pressed either on or off, but not both...regardless this is not what i want anyway. i want the lights to come on when the dome light turns on and go off when the dome light goes off.

i managed to also get the lights to turn on when the door lock pops up which would also work for me...only problem was that there is nowhere near enough power there since the lights were barely lit at that point

i have used the wiring diagram and it says that there is a black/blue wire on the driver's side kick panel for the dome light, well when i went there there are 4 or 5 black/blue wires...arrgggghhhh. if anyone has any suggestions or helpful hints (besides what's rice and whats not, i would appreciate them) i dont wanna have to bring this to a shop to have it done..it seems too damn easy to have to pay for the install

i was also wondering WTF you'd use those next-to-worthless lights for
you'd never see them if you're in the car, and if you open the door to get in, you'd only see it for a beif instant

then it's mentioned that they could be wired to the dome and remote locks - that's a great idea and makes it worth installing

well today was a good day, managed to figure out the right wiring...which wa quite simple once i sat down and thought about it...so i ran my main wire and tomorrow i should hopefully be running all the individual wires and lights for each door...still keeping my fingers crossed...gonna work on my camera as well so i can hopefully get some pics to everyone that requested.

got one side done, went pretty smoothly, but im gonna hold off on the other side until i get my camcorder so i can do some still shots of wiring and whatnot...so hopefully by next week, plus i need to get my one replacement LED that i burnt out during the experimentation phase. but it looks sweet, just need to tweak the one handle to let more light through...ill post some more updates hopefully during the next week..sorry for no pics yet, but my old dig. camera is a piece of s*** so its now an official paperweight

Where did you get them, how much, and can you choose which color LEDs you want? I would think white would be the coolest on my black car, but I guess everyone has their own color preferences.
