What do you mean by "works"? I have an iPhone 5 and last time I tried it would only notify me of the message, not read it. Is that what you see too?

Same here on my iPhone 5s. Notification, but not download or read.

To make up for the lacking software, I would like to mount my iPhone in a good position so I can see it too. Anyone mounted theirs and if so, where and with what?

See my post above... if you follow that procedure to re-pair it, you'll only have to re-pair it once (each time it happens.)

I've started to notice one thing that contributes to this happening more often: If you have the head unit reading a message, after reading the message it says something about pressing different buttons to call the sender, another to end the message, etc. IF you switch radio modes (from "phone" to "audio" or "navigation") while it's still talking, it seems more likely to the head unit to get stuck in this problem. To avoid, press the hangup button on the steering wheel, and wait about 5 seconds before switching radio modes.

(This won't make the problem go away, but before I started doing as I described above, I would have to repair every couple of days instead of every couple of weeks.)

Good luck
Gary

What you describe is my exact issue, so, at least I know, it's not just me. Hopefully they can fix it with a firmware update, SOON!!

Mine did not work in the beginning and I tried all kinds of things to get it working and then someone suggested it was the MMS or smilies so I deleted all my text/ MMS messages and now its been working with no problems. When I get a picture now I saw it to my card and delete it. It's pretty stupid that I can't reply via the reply button unless the car isn't moving but then I might as well send the darn text via my phone and say what I really want to say! I have a Samsung S4 on verizon.

You can't? My "reply" button works fine while moving. I use it frequently to reply with the canned messages. In fact, every single day on my way home from work, I go into messages, see a message from my wife, select it (See the notice about not being able to read while driving), tap reply, and send the canned "I'm driving now" message.

Yea mine never worked at the beginning with my S3. Then I got a MotoX and it worked at the beginning, then stopped working. Then I realized the issue with emoji's. So I deleted all emoji's and it worked again. So about a week ago it stopped again and I didn't have any emoji's. After reading these threads it may be an MMS issue so I just deleted all my picture messages, so I'm hoping it works for me when I get in my car!

Samsung Galaxy S4 4.4.2 on Verizon. Stock phone, not rooted. Never worked for me. When I recently deleted and repaired the phone, the phone asked me if I wanted to share my phone directory with Mazda. I replied 'Yes' and don't show this message again. It then asked if I wanted to share my phone messages with Mazda. Also replied 'Yes' and don't show this message again.

I get the message notification icon but always get the download failed, try again later. Bluetooth voice and music streaming work fine.

Hmmm...I will have to try it again but the reply button was grayed out until I stopped driving. The people I text know I was in my car because it says sent from my Mazda.

I don't even get notifications. Maybe my wife's iPhone5s will work?...I'll give that a try. Not the end of the world just a feature I would like to work.

I have the 5s, a joke, nothing. How in the H$ll can a company mislead people with their junk radio/navi. I am really upset about this.

I was told, txt would work. Even cheap Kia's work, my sister has one.

S3 phone here.Message notification shows.Download.Then download fails.
ipod loading takes long too.
The system on a 2015 vehicle is a bad joke.

Please don't mislead people, the iPhone in any hardware or ios version does not work with the cx5.

Most of the Android phones don't seem to work either so this problem is very widespread. Oddly enough it seems as though people using variations of the Windows phone don't seem to have as many problems, which is ironic since windows phone users have such a small share of the market.

Just conjecture but maybe some of the former Nokia talent? I have to wonder since Tom Tom is European company that feature is more compatible with phones used in that market. Would this feature easily work with an old school CDMA, GSM, TDMA, IDEN, etc phone assuming it had BT?

Originally all I ever got was the Failure to Download message. After calling Mazda Support, they had me unpair my phone and delete it on the CX-5 and aslo delete the Mazda on my phone. Once I repaired them, it now says it has down loaded the message but there is nothing there. Mazda Support suggestion is to try another phone to ensure it's not a phone issue. Really? It's listed as a compatible model on their web site. Oh and if it works with another model/brand of phone...make an appointment with my dealer. Like they will be able to fix it.......

I know there is issues with the text messaging (BT in general) functionality in the CX5 but was wondering if how to get the text messaging working? I just bought a Iphone 5S and from some of the quoted dealer and/or factory comments the system was made for this phone???? Nothing shows on my screen as far as texts go. No error messages, no download in progress message, nothing...My CX5 is a early 2013 Touring with the Bose system. I keep thinking I'm missing a setting somewhere either on the vehicle or on the phone. My 5S has 7.1.2 IOS. Matter of fact my previous phone was one of the Samsung Droids and never saw any text messages from that phone either. Looked in the user manual and didn't see anything to help me. Maybe I should consider myself lucky since this is the only issue I have with the infotainment system in my CX5.

Unfortunately not compatible for text messaging with iPhone 5S right now.

Your phone needs to support the bluetooth map profile. and of course you need a more recent cx-5 than mine, you need the 2014 model year or better. However that head unit had it's own problems.
