"crunch" noise when springs compress

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this....I get a slight "crunch" noise when I hit a sidden dip in the road. sounds like it's comin' from up front, and I'm thinkin' it might be due to stiff springs compressing. Anyone know better, or could I be on to something bigger?

Just to clarify...it's not a clunk, just kinda like the sound if you jumped up & down on your spring mattress

I get the same thing when going over speed bumps. I'm quite sure it's just the springs compressing. Please somebody correct me if i'm wrong.:p

I noticed my driver's side front spring "creaking" very briefly on cold mornings - but it has always stopped after just 1 of 2 "creaks." Other than that I haven't heard anything........which might be because of the stupid rear-end clunking its ass off though.

yeah...I only notice mine at slower speeds, like crossing tracks or speed bumps too.

Is the weather cold?
Probably your struts ... until they warm up.
Welcome to cold weather driving with the Tokicos.

check your suspension end-link bolts - i had that noise occur on my car when those broke and i hit bumps.

Same things happens with mine when im going slow over bumps, dips etc. I live in CA, it does it whether its hot or cold.

Me too. Was wondering what that was. Thought that was the clunk... until I started hearing that in the back.

this happens every morning ( i go to work at 3-4 am)
it only does it for a few minutes till its warm ,winters gonna suck

my stuts creak/squeek when cold. i try to grease them everyonce in a while.

its the front bushings. fix this with polyurethane front bushings. when its cold, they get smaller, thus the creaking because the spring must do more streching. summer=bushing expands, no noise :)

it's a feature...it lets you know it is cold out....

Yes both the MP3 and the MSP do this in the cold.

here's alittle tip for you MAzdaspeed guys

1. You car is just an mp3 with a Turbo. So chances are, if you have a suspension problem, the mp3 guys have seen it years ago. Go there SEARCH

Now, the front bushings will crunch when cold. Kinda like driving over a Coke can. It will go away when it warms up. On really really really cold days here in Canada, sometimes it's there all day as they never warm up

The bushings on the front of the speed are puly-urethane already. This is a characteristic of the bushing, and we have to live with it/

Next. When your in really cold dry air type climate, you struts will squeak REALLY LOUD. If you don't live where it gets that cold, you'll never see it. Now, I'm talking COLD, not oh my god it's only 15 degrees Celsius cold, I'm talking -15-30 Celsius cold and those shocks will start squeaking. Should also go away once warm. But, I'm convinced that whatever lube they have on thoese tokico's isn't cut out for cold weather, and with the right lube, the squeaking would not exist.
