Hey guys, are there many people running the SB yet?
I called up CPe this week and got a lot of good information. And it sounds like a great product, but i guess they might be a little bias since its their product. I want to hear more from people that are running it before i cave in and get one.

On a side note, they also told be that they were working on a FULL ecu replacement that should release within 6 months.

To be honest the only reason im not jumping on the SB right away is with the PnP harness its a little pricy and im not sure if i would be able to tune it my self. When i look at the AP for example it just sounds so much more simple.

i would wait until you have the money for the pnp and to get a tune at CPE or get an etune from them. there are guys running it on another forum, a 2010 made around 50whp after a tune from his baseline with intake, dp, tp, hpfp. its a great solution, and people are finally making big numbers with this.

thats nice and all... im not looking for huge numbers. Im more interested in the VTA option :)

also a tune at CPe would be freaking hard as i live in canada. but might think about an eTune.

thats a lot of money to just want to run vta. you could get the turbosmart dual port bov/bpv and be ok and have the sound. i think for the etune you would need some sort of datalogging software so cp-e can look at it and adjust. i'm not sure is the sb datalogs or not.

well i mean the gains are obviously part of the reason i want it. i just ment that i wouldnt be looking for a full 50whp. I rather have a safe DD tune.

i think that 50whp would be reliable. he still has room for power by leaning out his a/f ratio, still rich. make sure you grab a fuel pump or swap internals first, that will be the death of it.

there are a good number of people running the SB. not so many here, but a lot of guys on Mazda_speed_forum(dot)com are.

Remove the _ for the real site.

I have the standback for my gen2, haven't gotten around to tuning it yet. I datalog with a dashdaq that doesn't have KR or BAT yet, so it might be tricky to tune. As far as I know there is nothing out there that will monitor KR or BAT for the gen2s yet.

nope nothing yet. we are still kinda stranded. i would trust the cp-e guys though, give em a call and see what they have to say. i know the dude running it hasnt had any issues and is beating on rich kids with their expensive "fast" cars with his wagon

K, well here are my questions....(mind you, Ive always gone from NA to Supercharged)
1. What is KR and BAT?

2. With the standback, what all can you control and tune? Just fuel and timing? Or are we talking about allowing more boost in first and second gear and not limiting boost on wheel angle? DBW booster?

3. 50whp with SRI, DP, TP, and Exhaust on a tune isnt much in my opinion. My 2010 MS3 ran 10.0AFR at WOT the whole way through. WAY TOO RICH!!! Im sure with a SRI, DP, TP, Exhaust, and tuned with advanced timing and leaned out AFR to 11.8-12.0 at peak should yield at least 75whp and 85wtq for sure. Maybe throw a FMIC for good measure.

thoughts, opinions, answers?

personally i thought 50whp was good from the tune alone, but his afr's were still kinda rich, it was a safe tune..... yea the car can even dip into the 9's on stock ecu, how were u measuring your afr? did you get a DP + wideband? Dashdaq? KR is knock retard, and BAT is boost air temps. just a reminder if your going to do all this you MUST get a fuel pump so u don't blow ur load, the stock pump just can't keep up and you will run way lean and yea.... you know the rest.

Yea, I understand fuel delivery. Ive seen it go wrong. And its not pretty (but its pretty cool.) Anyways, I wasnt hatin. Just trying to get my ducks in a row. I have learned that you pay to do it right the first time with FI. If not, you just invested in a never ending problem.

Well, they did a review in DSport of the Standback and it seems like a good product. Now my issue is that they are suggesting that the HPFpump from CPE is almost necessary. But that beast cost $650. So will the walbro fuel pump work? I dont see why not. Has anyone installed this yet, even on a Gen1?
