CP-E Intake problems

First time user here, hello yall.

Anyways, I found the site when trying to find some help with issues that arised after installing the CP-E intake on our cx-7.

My husband bought the 2007 CX-7 and I bought the Mazda 3 hatchback. (Will post pics in another forum soon!)

Well, he has placed intakes on all of our vehicles before (about 4 others), and recently one on the mazda 3 (which I LOVE!!), and just finished installing the CP-E one on the CX-7 tonight.

After installation, the traction control lights came on and now he cannot let down the passenger window using the driver side control, and the "one-touch" control button will not let the driver's window up and down.

Like I said, he's installed many before and never had a problem, and actually he is a certified mechanic. He went back over everything, and instalation has been done correctly, so we are just dumb-founded on what could be the problem at this point.

He thinks that the battery might just need to be reset, and said that on some other vechicles there's a certain "procedure" that needs to be done to reset it, but I cannot find any information for him online about resetting the battery on the CX-7.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening? He said he's gonna try to scrape some paint near the ground wire and sand-paper the connection so he can have straight metal-to-metal contact and see if that helps anything. So, I will keep you posted if it changes anything. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem after installation or any more ideas. Thanks alot!

I believe only one current member has the CP-E intake on his CX and I don't recall him saying he had any problems. I'd check all the electrical connectors around the intake just to make sure none of them slipped off or came loose.

I'm sure he installed everything right, and it has nothing to do with the CP-E Intake... it's just that in taking out or disconnecting the battery, you need to reset the power windows and the TCS system.

it's a PDF... don't be confused because it's instruction for a remote-start installation. All you need is Page 19 which explains EXACTLY how to reset the window and TCS programming (after disconnection or removal of the car battery). It's easy to do, just a series of steps to follow. I was able to do it myself.

The instructions for resetting the window are not as detailed as they should be. I figured out that in order to reset the passenger window you can't press the button all the way down or up. You only need to press and lift the switch to the first step.

Uh... I followed those instructions exactly as written and immediately (on first try) got my windows working again. It was the EXACT same issue you're having. From the driving side I couldn't lower the passenger window, and auto-down/up didn't work for either.

Follow the instructions. They work.

CAUTION: When the battery is disconnected, the windows will not fully open and close automatically.

Perform the following procedure to the driver and passenger front windows to resume operation:

• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
• Press down the window switch on the front passengers side door panel and fully open the window.
• Pull up the window switch on the front passengers side door panel and continue holding for approximately 3
  seconds to fully close the window.
• Press down both front window switches on the drivers door panel and fully open the windows.
• Pull up both front window switches on the drivers door panel and continue holding for approximately 3 seconds to fully close the windows.
• Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

I did follow the EXACT same instructions. But the second step, when it says to pull up on both blah blah blah, they both won't go down, only the one. I even re-tried again after reading your posts to double check.

Im'a just have him do the solid connection to the ground by removing surface metal paint and sandpapering the connection like he suggested tomorow.

Well, not sure what you're doing wrong, but all I can suggest is make sure you have the car in the "ON" position, but not running and not in "ACC"... and follow the steps exactly. If that doesn't work and everything else is hooked up right, I'm at a loss.

Hi! I am the guy with the CP-E intake.

I will answer all your questions and it will work.

CP-E intake won't do any CEL, if its on, then its because of your gas cap.
The Traction control is on?? why? your husband must disconnected the battery while the installation.

About the window, you must reset the system.
your power window didn't work is because you disconnected your battery to turn off the CEL.
these are the steps and lil different then above

1. battery off for about 1min.
2. connect the battery and then turn the igntion to on.. it mean don't start your engine.
3. start from driver side, slide your windows all the way down. then pull all the way up.
4. go to passenger seat, and do the same.
5. then go to rear seat and do the same for both windows.
6. now. turn off your ignition.
7. after 1 min, start your car and drive around for like 5 min because the system is reprograming, then your power windows should work correctly.

I have done this by myself so many times because of CEL issues of my gas cap.
I am too lazy to go to the dealer, they don't have a solution yet for the gas cap problems.
So i juss disconncet the battery and just to reset the system so I don't see the CEL temperrary.

they do have a solution for the gas cap... i brought my car into dealer for fog install last week...they gave me a "gas cap mod" without me even asking, he said they will be doing on all CV7's that come in...
- so how's that intake? STRONGLY considering 1...sounds nasty..!?
is there a valve to prevent water uptake?...how far down does the pipe go? is there a connect on it for MAF sensor?

No Cp-e Intake and HKS BOV will not void your warranty.

This may sound foolish in light of the added HP, etc. But has anyone noticed any radical change in MPG?

It will void warraty if the dealer finds that the cause of a certain part in your vehicle was damaged due to the aftermarket parts installed. This is with every vehicle. Now if you have a problem and think its because of something you added...take it off and then take it to the dealer...you won't have problems then.
And by the way... if you did change your intake and had problems with your suspension or any other non-engine related problem...it would not void that part of your warranty....only engine related warranty. Again this is for every vehicle and it depends on how picky the service department is at your dealer.

My car came home the first night and had this problem.

This fixed it.
