CorkSport Mazda 2 Short Ram Intake

well i got bored and took a mini hacksaw and cut out the plastic in front of the original vent. i also cut out those 2 plastic pillars in the vent so now i have a nice size hole there that actually seems to be getting alot more air thru it. ill post pics later. went to autozone and found some plastic air duct hosing and also saw they have elbows and cai pipes so i might buy those and see about a CAI conversion or something. has anyone thought about moving or relocating the battery?

Hi Jmac,

That would be a wonderful thing. I'd love to see an overlay of the dyno runs with the different intakes.

Can you also calculate gas consumption at say a steady 3,000 rpm with the different set-ups? That would answer one long running question as to how intakes effect gas mileage.

Of course, don't forget to shut the hood when dynoing the SRI's.<LOL>

Got mine in the mail today. Ordered on Thursday and it got here today, so super-fast shipping from Washington to Boston.

Now we just have to get a warm enough day for me to install it.

That is quick shipping! We normally tell people 3-4 days for the east coast from our location. Enjoy the intake!

it was unseasonably awesome outside, so I got a chance to install today. The detail instructions say that there should be two 3" clamp, one over the throttle body and silicone, and over the MAF housing and the silicone, with the 2.75" over the filter and housing, but it ships with two 2.75"s and a 3" clamp, which the front page packing list confirms. after wrestling with the throttle body for a half hour, i have a feeling the instructions were right and there should have been two 3"s? Just something to look into one way or the other. I might go out and buy a 3" at some point soon, cause I could serve to adjust it up a little bit and there is no wiggle room with the 2.75" on there.

Just took it for a quick drive to make sure everything was together and i wasn't seeing any CELs. I can definitely feel it's there when pulling up a nearby hill, and it' got a nice baritone note when you're heavier on the throttle (i bet it'll compliment an exhaust quite nicely). I'm looking forward to going out for a longer drive after work to really put it through its paces.

another nice piece from corksport. good job guys!

Hi everyone, i am new in this, i had been reading information of intakes for the mazda 2, and i am interested in, but have one cuestion. Have this setup affects the MPGs in the car? positive o negative? how much? I have found different answers, but i think you should have the real one.

Any feedback now that you have had it installed for a few weeks?

Yeah, i'm happy with it. it definitely adds a more aggressive sound to the car that it desperately needed (and i think will pair nicely with an exhaust once I get there), and it noticeably pulls a little harder going up hills and downshifting to pass. Definitely worth the money.

Can you guys speak to my question on the clamp sizing? I haven't had a chance to get back under the hood, but i know my filter was *very* close to contacting whatever is directly below it in the engine bay, and with the tightness of the clamp on the throttle body currently, no angle adjustments are possible. Upsizing that clamp i think would do wonders, but I wanted you guys to weigh in before I did anything about it.

I will take a look at the shop car tomorrow and see about the clamp. I dont remember there being anything close but it has been a while since I looked at it.

Just wondering if any of my fellow Canadians have had one of these shipped north of the border, and what kind of hoops would I have to jump through to get one?

Not A single one. I had to pay duties, but if you ship USPS (NOT UPS) it's pretty painless. I've ordered a number of things from Corksport and the shipping times have been quite fast and reliable.

Duty on a US made product? Could have been NAFTA Duty Free going into Canada.

What was the rate and tariff classification they used?

(37 years working on the border)

The content of the intake is US made so it should have gone through that way.

Here is the picture of the SRI in our shop 2.

I just need to know the correct size of the clamp on the throttle body. your packing list and your instructions say two different things.
