Constant reboot 2016 cx-9...CMU issue?

I've had this car for 5 years and the radio rebooting has been a constant issue in winter months. I originally assumed it was rebooting due to the low temps (because that was the only time I had an issue) and have just dealt with the annoying lack of radio in the winter months. However, it is now doing it randomly regardless of the temp outside. I have seen similar complaints but haven't seen anyone provide a solution. Doing a master reset did nothing, I've also tried replacing the SD card, but that was not the correct route. I don't believe replacing the screen will fix the issue either. Is my next step to try replacing the CMU (Connectivity Master Unit)? I plan to DIY this because the dealership will charge thousands.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts for the SD card yet? For some, that solved the issue. You can get an electrical contact cleaner from an auto parts store, spray the cleaner on the SD card's contacts, then insert it into the slot and remove it a few times. Spray a bit more cleaner and repeat. Might be worth a shot.

I suppose I could try that before hunting down a CMU. I did put a new SD card in and that did not solve the problem. I'm assuming what you are suggesting is to clean the port where the SD card rests?

Yes, that's right. Spraying the cleaner on the card's contacts and then inserting and removing the card should clean the contacts in the port a little better than just spraying the cleaner into the port.
