Component Tweeter Mount Idea!

If you've got 500W for a sub, and enough knowledge to build a vented enclosure in FG, then you could get the eD big 8! :) They have one on clearance for 300$!

Check the eD Clearance News thread that I posted earlier today. Their selling a bunch of different stuff over the next couple weeks to be ready for their new lines coming in.

What kind of knowledge do I need to build the box? I have some fiberglass experience, and I am confident I can build it mechanically, but I am unsure of how to make it the proper size. I mean, I COULD figure it out mathamatically, but is their any sort of shortcut? Actually, i was looking at either the e8a.44 or the e10a.22 Why such a dramatic price difference? I was also going to go for a sealed enclosure to save space. Remember, I WAS gonna put the basslink in for size reasons, but decided to go a step up and just build the sick fiberglass box.

Well, all of those plans might have to go on hold for a bit, or sort of mold around other factors as eD has limited stock of everythign left. if I were you, I'd keep an eye on what's coming up on their closeout page, and grab one when you can. Asfor the exact sub choice, why 10a? unless you're feeding it 1kw of juice, you can easily do just as well with less. I almost in a way wish I'da just gone the 10o route myself, just at the time they had the tsunami amps on such a deal I couldn't resist, an then, of course you can't have allthat power and not use it... *sigh* it's a sickness I tell you... Honestly, though the 10o's are supposed to be wher eit's at for top SQ. Oh, and on the fiberglassing front, if for any reason you want yet another take on it, I'll try to do a littleblurb when mine's complete. sofar I'm sill constructing my wood bits (Sucks being at the mercy of friends for access to tools) I did some styrofoam peanut testing today, and from that, it looks like my 12a will be WAY less intrusive than I'd previously believed. I'm pretty sure yu could tuck a 10 in VERY tightly. As far as price differences. I don't really thingk the 8a is quite the same animal as the rest of the a family. dramatically less power handleing and such. And what he's talking about with the box building is being able to incorporate the needed port to make the "big8" work. since they reccommend it for lots of power, and ported applications only. I'd really jsut stick with a sealed box for fiberglass. My idea was to fiberglass my box, then run a port along the floor, but that's just a bit too involved at this point. Maybe later on down the line if I ever manage to think JUST 1100w in a sealed box isn't enough

To FG a ported enclosure would be diffucult...As with what poseur said, eD is in a bit of a stat of flux with their lines at this point. But the choice of speaker is dependant on wattage. The Kx and K series if you have about 300W RMS. The O series for about 400-600W RMS, and the A series for about 500-1500W RMS. The new a-series is gonna be really scary with the power handling. The K and Kx are great all around subs, the O's are SQ subs (which can still hit), and the A-series are made to fill a niche similar to the JL Audio W7, but are closer to the w6v2.

The old 8a, if you can get one, is an amazing small box sub...but the power handling isn't super high. It's closer to the 10k in terms of SPL but it's still an 8 and has the sq of an 8" in the a-series.

Another brand to check out for great subs is Image Dynamics...they have some sick stuff, as do Adire Audio, Resonant enginneering, and JL.
