I wanna put good set of coilovers on my car and there is a few sets ive been looking at. Tein ss coilover kit, Ksport Kontrol coilover kit and BC Racing Coilover kit. They all are around the same price. What kit or kits would you recommend? or is there any other coilovers to consider? I just dont want it to be bouncy.

I dont mind it being stiff. I mean bouncly like a trampoline. if i hit a bump with my current setup the rear of the car will bounce up and down making it unstable. Even if i tighten the dampers all the way its still acts as if the rear of the car is tring to hop away. if you push down on my trunk you can alsmot bottom the suspension out. I used to have ground control coilovers last summer but they drove almost the same way. I replaced my all my struts a few months back with illuminas cause i thought they may have been on there way out and i put skunk2 springs in as well. I found out that skunk 2 mis-represented their springs when i bought them, I called and spoke to a tech and he told me they were linier springs (wich they are not) and that the spring rates were 255 in the front and 205 in the rear, well they are 235 in the front but the rear spring rate is only 125. Like i said i dont mind a stiff ride i just looking to enhance the handling of the car a great deal, and i though coilovers might be the way.

No idea on the real quality of them but ForceFed should still have one set left from his GB in the FS thread...hard to beat his price though, just ask Avarela...

What about just getting ground control sleeves? You can choose your spring rating when you order them

Hmm, The ground control set i had was the sleeve version.... i wonder if they were just a weaker spring rate?? I wasnt asked a desired rate when i ordered em or even that i could choose a rate.

I saw that ForceFed had a set of ksport kontrol coilovers up for grabs, and that was one of the sets i was contemplating purchasing, but im not going to have the funds to purchase anything until the following week. From what i have read the ksport coilovers are pretty nice. i was just curiouse about some other possible choices as well, or any personal experiences.

the sleeves r the ones that probly bounce. the ones ur looking into will be very thight ;-).

currently u probly need new struts to solve the bouncing.

i thought i may be the struts as well, but it still bounced even after the new struts were installed. I think its just the fact that my spings are weak.

he said he got fairly new Illuminas...and you can adjust the bouncing effect with the adjustable dampening...

Thats what i stated before, even when adjusted all the way it gets a little better but still bouncy

Do you have lots in the trunk? I know it's a off the wall question but that could make it bounce more.

And well, I have the originals blue's on the car.. they dont bounce.. you can consider that if you ask me. Not fancy and stuff like the other ones but sure work well.

^you still on stock springs too? If so, that is the reason; they struts were valved exclusively for those springs...

I have skunk 2 lowering springs They SUCK!!! i think they are the reason the car is so bouncy. I have a speaker box in the trunk but i removed my spare, so as far as weight in the rear i should be ok.

Bouncing up and down is caused by a lack of shock/strut dampening. The shock dampening is not strong enough to slow the up and down movement. This can be a result of the ride height being too low and bouncing off the bump stops when combined with the regular spring rate make for a very high spring rate.

What may also be happening is the spring is too soft and the ride height it low cause the car to bottom out and hit the bump stops and bounce back up.

My mistake CulRidr looking back on the post i realized you were talking to someone esle.

Its in between being fast and slow, if i really had to pick i would say slow. I am 100% sure its my springs, The skunk2 springs have a very low spring rate and on top of it they are progressive.
