Cobb Update!

ya, it would have to be a stage 1.5 in addition to a stage 1 and stage 2. this is why i kinda doubt it's gonna be happening anytime soon, because i can't see any other car that they've done this for...=/

"The Stages we do are pretty much the same for every car as it is a pretty effective route for most turbo cars.

Stage 1 - AccessPORT (Just ECU Reprogramming)
Stage 2 - AccessPORT + Turbo-back Exhaust (Using the specific mapping for the TBE)

Depending on the car we may have to have an additional map for each stage that includes the intake so the MS3 may or may not look like this:

Stage 1
Stage 1 + Intake
Stage 2
Stage 2 + Intake

The FMIC might also throw another Stage or Stage + into the mix. :D"

Also, to clarify, on cobbs forum, one of the engineers announced that they will be releasing both, the streettuner and the protuner at a later time. Neither will be out when the accessport is released.

How much is different between the MS3 and MS6 in terms of the engine and EMS system?

The engine, not so much, but the awd is something the ems would have to deal with, also the ecu is completely different, so theyd have to recrack that whole thing.

If you are asking because you are thinking it would be possible to use the ms3 ecu in the ms6, then I Dont know if that would work either because still you have to add in all wheel drive, and you have to deal with getting some sort of ms6 ecu to ms3 ecu wire harness adapter.

I understand the intake concerns. However, on the exhaust side, is an exhaust an exhaust an exhaust, or would we have to get a Cobb specific turbo back. Also, would it require the cat back, or could we do the "stealth" exhaust, of DP/RP and stock cat back?

ya, i'm still doubtful that the stage 1 + intake X will be available anytime soon because if you look at any of the other APs that they have released, there is no stage 1 + non-cobb intake map...=/

They have said that as long as the intkae wont alter the a/f ratios that much it will be fine.
Theyve also said that the ms cai alters it enough to require a tune. They said they may or may not make a map specific for those with the ms cai.

Sierra117
I asked Josh about that, He said that generally an exhaust is an exhaust and that pretty much any aftermarket exhaust will be fine with stage 2.
I also asked him if I could just get a downpipe and use the stock catback since its not that much of a restriction. He said that should also be fine, but Id have a few less horsepower. I know that after I get the AP, im going straight to the dyno to check my a/f ratios and have a good tuner listen for any sort of knock, just to be safe

10pts for the Dashhawk (bowdown)

So that means that there is no way to tune or adjust anything for a long time.

yeah, thats what it means, but I guess thats fine with me. I may just do a mod every once and a while so it slowly and steadily gets faster.

I have an intake right now, so maybe ill flash it when it comes out. Wait a few months, install a downpipe, and flash it. then a few months later I could install a catback, leaving it flashed to stage 2, then a few months later i can install my manifold or something like that nad go get it tuned.
By then I should have plenty of power to be happy.

Ok, I know this is unethical but I have to ask. What's to stop two or three people who live near each other from buying one of these things and all sharing the cost and useage?

For me with just the MS CAI, I would be a DEFINITE purchase if they mapped for it...right now, I am just considering it.

haha...the AP is coded so that it locks itself to your VIN when it first extracts your stock map. it doesn't unlock itself unless you reflash your car back to stock...sneaky, eh? (usa)

Screw it. I'm getting the Cobb Short Ram just to make my life easier, lol. Time to move this CP-e.

I can't wait. almost time. the shop up the street from me deals with cobb or is a cobb distributor so to say what ever you want to call it. but i'm the only one with a speed 3 thats came in there and asked about the programmer and talked to the owner. slipped alittle green basicly like a down payment telling them i was serious and to hold one for me when they get it and i have first dibbs on the first unit that they recieve. this product seems like it's going to be great for someone that just wants some basic gains and some better driveability but will and can later do some serious tunning on it when the time comes. i so hope this is worth all the wait and set backs cause it seems like it so far.

The awd in the ms6 is controlled by a separate computer. Ms6 owners describe it as a black box next to the ecu.
