Are you compatible with any proposed AP map?

It seems that you have a lot of mods. For example, the fuel pump is a no go.

oh I agree, but I bet its not gonna stop people from trying to use it.
I know Ill have a different line up of mods but Im gonna see what the afrs' are like and see if itd be safe to run a little bit of a different setup.
I hope its fine, if not, I'll just go without the extra mods until after the tuning software comes out.

i dont see how the fuel pump or tmic is a no go. Cobb tunes arnt agressive at all. IF the stock ecu has no problems with the pump, neither will the flash. Think about how the pump works, it only flows more fuel if it has too, meaning it will supply the requested pressure when the stocker is pushed to the limit. I plan on running stage 2 and adding a mbc on top of it. Cobb says its not smart because they want to cover their ass incase something happens. Turst me its been done many times before.

Cobb doesnt make specific maps for your upgraded fuel pump. They even said it themselfs, "if you have a aftermarket fuel pump, you will need aditional fuel trim adjustments". But I guess they dont know what there talking about.

i never said they dont know what they are talking about. I doubt cobb even knows how these pumps work. Like i said, if the stock ecu is able to handle it with zero problems, so will a reflashed STOCK ecu.

Driver311 and Laloosh...

I am with you guys. You can't take everything people say on these forums to be 100% true or to be reliable information. Without people testing new things and new ideas we wouldn't get anywere. Personally, I dont have the cash flow to risk my car that way but I enjoy following what you guys have done and found out... plus you both are getting some really good times!

I think for me the Cobb SRI and Cobb AP will be more than enough. Maybe I'll throw in a downpipe for good measure to since supposedly that's the biggest power gainer in the exhaust department (from what I have heard).

Cobble Cobble!!

it will make a huge difference when the boost is turned up and every1 is running out of fuel. Some guys on here want to be cobb stage 2 and nothing more. Some guys on here are using cobb for a couple reasons.

My reasons: I dont give a s*** about the stage 1 2 3 4 10 25 tune.
I car about not having fuel cut and i care about having a reflash that i can change around.

You guys are the pioneers who put your money and your warrantees where your mouth is. More power to ya. No point in knocking you for that. Anybody who listens to you just takes their chances, that's all.

cobb has good s*** and all but very conservative tunes. Looks at stg2 sti's. My ms3 with my mods now will own one. Im guessing the ms3 tune will be the same. Quicker than stock but leaves lots to be desired. Ill get the ap for a tuning tool only and no more fuel cut. Ill mod on from there. Pretty much I wanna beat laloosh to the 11s on stock turbo and then its on from there. Im guessing wheel upgrade is in my near future.

My car is stock. I chose to keep it that way until proper EMS systems were availabe. I dont even have plates for my car yet! And when did I ever hint that I care if his car is faster than mine? I could give a s*** less! I bought this car to daily drive, not mod like crazy. But I know nothing right? I dont know what im talking about, but I had a 500whp STi running Cobb EMS, but ya, I know nothing. Go ahead and add stuff to there PRE MADE MAPS, have fun. I dont reccommend it.

I look foward to the AP. After reading posts by laloosh and driver311, I pretty much think they know what they are talking about. As for a conservative tune, that is fine for me right now. As far as tuning the ECU myself with a less conservative tune, I will leave that to the shop I take my car.

I can't wait to see a MS3 break into the 11's. Good luck guys and happy tuning.

just like mazda doesnt recommend adding stuff to the PRE MADE STOCK MAPS. Once again, think a lil.

Call Cobb, see what they say about having a fuel pump or any other mods to there pre made maps, they will tell you what im saying....and ill say it again. I DONT RECCOMMEND IT. Do what you like, you can add a boost controller and make a few vids and post them. Good for you...

Directly from Cobb's mouth.

"Fuel pumps on Direct Injection cars can raise fuel pressure at the injector. If they do under any condition(s) then a change in fuel mapping will be required."

All im saying is dont add more parts to a map made specifically for there maps. IE: Adding an intake to a stage 1 map, or adding a fuel pump to a map not DESIGNED for it.

But dont listen to me or Cobb, everybody listen to laloosh...

EXACTLY. Fuel pump raise fuel pressure, more fuel pressure = more fuel! Dear god, so my car will run slightly richer at wot...good, i can add more boost. /discussion

I meant I don't see it making a huge difference going from the stock ECU to the Cobb AP like you said. The ECU will still be able to learn and adjust even with the Cobb AP in use.
