Cobb AP Discussion Thread

If you have a test pipe to replace the 2nd catalytic converter, you'd be best off running a stage 2 map. Either way, I would probably start with a Stage 1 93 +SF or Stage 2 93 +SF depending on test pipe and octane available.

Thanks man. Installed Stage1+SF 93 today.

Does anyone know if the mzdspd.com website still gets updated? All of the maps there were v102 or v103 but all the stuff on Cobb was v104...

v1.04 maps???

At the end of March I updated my AP & ECU to a v1.03 map. Now I see COBB has v1.04 maps, yet when I open the map notes to the "Revision Notes" section (where they identify changes from one map version to the next), there is no mention of the v1.03 maps . . . it goes from the current 1.04 to 1.02 to 1.01, etc.

BTW . . . the notes for the v1.04 map have the same exact description (as I remember it) as the v1.03 did . . .
"Updated to correct fuel table saving issue and to update maps for minor bug that was found. Performance of the maps has not changed outside of these corrections."

I know it existed, I kept copies in the COBB folder, so what the heck happened to the 1.03 versions???

cheers

When you re-flash the ecu with an new /updated map does that reset the historical fuel trims?

I don't know the answer to this, but I suspect that it does for this reason: In the ATR notes, it recommends following a step-by-step approach, wherein step 1 is calibrating your MAF. In the instructions (which I am still confused about, see my post above), it recommends driving 50 city miles at light throttle before logging; so in effect, they recommend generating new historical trims before measuring to make corrections. Hope that helps.

all they did was fix the few bugs that were found.. the maps are virtually the same.. im switching over the the SB.. for BIG POWER!!!! the ap was good to me so i cant complain, even though they released v104, the support level from Cobb is shrinking by the day.

ya so i was in 3rd gear around 4 grand and gave it alittle and notice i had a huge knock 5.7 ive never got anything that high before...actlly the datalog from earlier today i got no knock what so ever.... and everything seems fine...i didnt see any knock after that...alil nervous though....any advice or maybe just alittle randomness? not much to worry about unless it keeps happening?

My car does all crazy sorts of s*** since the day I got it. I wouldn't worry these cars are weird like that.

So should I disconnect the battery after a flash?
What do others do? I was ripping it earlier and the changes I made maf calibration look good. I did not disconnect the battery

The point of disconnecting the battery is to clear the fuel trims. When you reflash you clear the fuel trims anyway. So there is no need to disconnect after a flash.

Yes. You don't have to reset the annoying windows or set time/set radio presets either when flashing.

Well I downloaded the new v104 stage 2+ 93 octance map tonight. Adjusted the MAF tables. Smoothed out the throttle response and APP translations. Adjusted WGDC so I won't be boosting under 3 grand. Also lowered all the load tables for each gear under 3 grand to compliment this change. Changed the closed loop exit delay tables. Smoothed out the boost response and have it set to max at 19psi and tapering down to 17 by redline. Increase my idle to 1000rpm so it does away with some of the vibes. Giving her a test drive tomorrow to see how she does.

I did away with my race roots map. Not only have they not sent me a revision in one week. The map all of a sudden started back firing on wot shifts when not using flat foot shifting. Switched back to my original map and it went away. They also couldnt get my LTFT's equaled out. So today after a couple flashes and datalogs I have finally gotten my LTFT's spot on. Not only that but STFT's stay +2/-2 as well. Which is great considering it usually goes from -12/+18 in the past while keeping ltft's in check.

This is the most I have ever modified on one of my maps. I hope it runs ok. Tomorrow should tell. Still doing some reading in the ATR book. I really just want to cure this light throttle/low rpm boost that this turbo loves to do. If I am right boost should only kick only above 25% throttle. As opposed to 18%. It shouldnt demand any boost until I reach 3 grand since I have lowered the load to < 1 under that with the exception of 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. Where boost should only hit above 2500rpms. :)

The user spec2k5 is also undergoing a RR e-tune on his MS3. He is having trouble getting RR to work with him as well.

I put a plot up here at some point where I knocked up to 8, though that was a low RPM/high gear/give it a little gas situation. Mine regularly knocks if I put it into certain situations, it seems to be something these engines do. I'm going to have the dealership look it over for me though...it makes me uncomfortable as well.

What map are you running? I have the same issue with random KR at partial throttle running the Stage 1 maps. At first I thought it was because I didn't have the Denso ITV22's yet so I backed down from the 93 map to the 91 map (until I get new plugs). I still get the random knocks at partial throttle but never anything above 0.7 at WOT.

After doing some reading, it seems like the random knock at partial throttle is the norm for the Stage 1 maps. Does anyone know if calibrating the MAF with ATR will help with this?
