Clunk Updates

I don't think there are any implications of removing the swaybar. It is purely for handling. It simply ties the independent suspension together in the back.

but I believe that there is a swaybar present in all cars, its just very thin and only there to 'keep things in place'. I'd be wary of not having one at all.

The point is being missed here. We shouldn't have to worry about removing the damn bar. We purchased this car because of the handling, regardless of what season it is. I see where you are coming from NEWF, but we shouldn't have to do it. Mazda reimbursed the RX-8 & Miata owners for not getting what they paid for, they should do the same for us!

^^^^agreed 110% :D
yeah, they had power issues, which is what those cars were billed as...our car was billed as a suspension/handling car, and we're not getting it
[its two different cars clunk vs. no clunk, as we all know]

I greased mine for the first time last nite. Still no clunk. My greaseables (Summit Racing-Mazda Authorized) have been in since March/ April.

I completely agree that Mazda should be doing something for us..and I should not have to remove the bar..that's why I've spent near 2 years chasing this problem down and yelling at MAzda for it. But given Mazda past attempts to "fix" this problem, and given that I've yet to see this new "fix" and test it myself ( unlike other attempts they've made) I'm not betting that this "fix" that is coming out in two weeks will work for sure. Not until I test it, and I am convinced that it's fixed, will I stop persuing this.

My dealer wants this fixed even more now that my old MP3 is sitting on their lot, and they can't sell it because of the clunk( same reason why I couldn't sell it). now it's their problem, and that's not right as it should be Mazda Canada's problem but urgency is key here, and the more the better.

If this is not fixed this winter, I will not waste more time going back and forth to the dealer every 2-3 weeks like last year to get bushings replaced. I missed more time from work that I'll never get back, spent more money on gas in my own car, and their loaners then I'll ever get back. Taking the bar off would be my fix until I see the latest attempt from Mazda. And I would not do this until January.

NEWF IS THE MAN! We all know this! :D
Thanks as always for your efforts! I will personally send Newf a CASE of his favorite brew once his efforts come to fruition; as I know they will. :D

I am still at a loss as to why they are telling people that the fix is coming out in two weeks, when I haven't seen it yet. Other attempts, they gave it to me, and waited for me to say whether it was fixed or not. When they failed we started over. This one, as I said before, I haven't see it yet, so how they can say it fixes it amazes me. Scares me as well.

is dealing with mazda canada diff than mazda usa? i mean, it would seem good to join their heads for this. who would be the ones doing all the planning etc? MUSA?

Too bad those reviewers are dumb.
