youngereveryday said:Now I'm nervous . . . my CEL went on a few days ago (800 km). . . it was in the dealership for service today and the tech said they had to order a new purge valve & would call me when it arrives . . . and they flashed the latest update.
Now I'm experiencing reduced power / there's still lots but i have to get way deeper into the throttle . . . it just doesn't have that amazing punch that it had last week.

Wow . . . i recall paying for 275hp (protest)Hate said:Result of the flash. It does lower power to 270HP I think...but overall, the car drives better. The valve thing seems to be common on 06 models. I have mine in twice for it. Once they did a modification to it. The second time, they replaced it.

My car is an '07 . . . just how asleep at the wheel has Mazda been, if this EXACT same problem has existed from one model year to another?? Just what has Mazda been doing??
I want back that incredible BLAST of power (drive2)
Well it sure doesn't feel like 270 anymore.Hate said:Oh you have an '07? Those were 270HP from the door anyways.
(uhm) I'm quite sure about the model year of the car I just paid $40,000 for, yes.Hate said:. . . I didn't think they needed a re-flash either, since it's the way they come standard. Are you sure about the year?
I live in Canada. It was below freezing (temp) when the CEL came on last week, but its above freezing now. But it has been considerably (!!!) colder in previous weeks, and the car ran fine.Hate said:. . . Is it cold where you are? My car is a whole different car when it's colder out, as in it feels slower, which should be the complete opposite for a car with a turbo.

As for the flash, I can only assume there's been an update to the on-board computer?

So in Canada, the MS6 was released before its time? 'Cuz it gets real cold up here, and it stays cold for months.Hate said:I was about to say $40,000, OMG, but I realized that's Canadian dollars, and yes it was to the ECU. It should have been done to the 07 before you even bought it. Unless there's another one, and I'm running from it like the plague. Only reason I asked about the year is because you are describing problems of the '06 model that shouldn't exist with the '07 model from what I've heard. Anyways, what happens is the valve freezes and gets stuck. People in Florida don't have that problem.

I'll check the gas cap when I leave work.

It is a PITA, however, what is a bigger inconvenience is the fact that this CEL requires TWo trips to my dealer. One for them to read the CEL, another for them to order in the part. Makes me reconsider future automnotive brand purchases.
On a side note, I have not yet seen any 2007 MS6 on my local lot...
