CEL P0171 question...

Pulled a P0171 Bank 1 code the other day and looked it up on here and from what i have read seems to be o2 sensor or cracks in the intake or a dirty maf. I am not having any drivability issues, no rough idle or hesitation in any way. Anyone have any thoughts of how i should approach this. Is there any test i can do for the to help narrow it down. I checked the intake for and cracks and didn't see any. I am running a short ram intake. any thoughts? Thanks

Clean the MAF - it is easy (just be careful). Check your wiring to the MAF. When i did my short ram - i crimped and pulled the wire too tight and it started to come apart from the connector...

this s*** is a trip, everytime i have an issue i come on here and some other dude is having the same damn problem.

Got the code today at work, after light came on was having suck ass idle. which i have not had in an effing week cause last saturday i cleaned the egr valve and it was running smooth.. i'll check the maf i suppose

well that makes me feel a bit better. haha. I did have a bit of a dip while idling today. I'll start with the maf.

so whats the deal, do you check out the maf? resolve the problem? i havent even looked at mine, cause i am a lazy phuck. i did get an OBD2 scanner.

Ok well i cleared the code a few times 3rd time it did not come back on since the 14th-15th and around 250 miles. even tho it didnt come back i cleaned the MAF sensor. A few hours ago it came back on, so if its not the MAF then, cracks in intake hose or 02 sensor are my other 2 options? I have a Injen CAI and no cracks.

Can someone plz give me some direction/advice?

disregard. I got some relevant results this time when searching. and after reading them I dont care anymore, **** that CEL

just reset your ecu man. it clears mine everytime for at least 1k miles. i think its the intakes.. more air.. less fuel.. lean code.

I have had the injen CAI for like the last 25-30k miles with no issues. I would rather fix the issue instead of pretending its not there

i know lol, its probably not a problem, im just pointing out that could be the reason for the lean code. i never threw that code until 500 miles after my sri install. or it could simply be the 02 sensor.

ok have not had a chance to work on it yet. I have another question though. the day before I got the CEL, I swear it sounded like the Turkey was lasting longer then normal, like when I shifted, I am not sure if it is lasting longer, or the tail end of it was louder.

Is this possible, its been doing it ever since, and I listen to it all the time. I am going to check the WGA tomorrow anyways while troubleshooting. Is there any possible relation at all??

i would suggest resetting the ecu and letting the computer relearn and reset.. if you notice that the turkey is back to normal, then yeah it is the code that it throwing things off. if its not and still lasting longer than normal, then maybe its another problem. i dont have a msp so i cant really help you with that, im not to familiar with that stuff.

i have cleared the code with my reader and reset the ECU about 10 times this week. It comes back and its going to continue until I fix the issue. I have cleared and reset enough times its not gonna be magic this time around :)

Ok...So I tried to figure out what was causing the CEL. I for some reason started looking at the hoses for the BPV and WGA and inspected the T connector, the downward section of the T connector leading to the WGA was broken about half way through at the base of connector, So i got distracted fixing that. That s*** was a ******* headache, vacuum lines and T connectors simple s*** right? lol not for me today.

searched on the hose size, everything said 3/16 so I went and got some hose and connector in that size. All the hoses were seriously ******* fuzed to that connector. Finally got em off. Cannot for the life of me get the new connector into the line, not suprising but w/e. I went back to Kragens and decided to try and get everything needed to replace all 3 lines and connectors for that loop. I am not sure what the connector type is or tht name of it, the other end of the line, opposite side of T conn? ( can anyone tell me, and where I can buy) anyways they didnt have anything close.

I decided to go down a size to 5/32 and got some 1/8 T's and 2ft of 3/16 tube for the **** of it. I put the 5/32 in the line and it split the hose about 1/2 inch. I handled that issue with teflon tape, and electrical tape applied liberally. I could not get the other ends of hoses off the other side and didnt want to bust em since I could not find them. The barbed section of the old T connector butsted off inside the line going to the BPV. so I had to trim, then extend that line.

Anyways to make a short story long. Vacuum line ******* sucks when its 50k+ miles old. Right now all lines are intact, functioning and without leaks. I did use a whole roll of teflon tape and electrical tape. The car seems to be running better, seemed to hold boost better but who knows, and the car was way less jerky under boost and foot off deceleration. Somethings its done for the past 20k miles.

My CEL is still coming back. once I clear it, while at idle or city driving it low speeds it comes back within a couple minutes. but on 2 highway drives, 75 miles one way I never came back on. I kept my code reader plugged in, it re scans every 30 secs.

Sorry for the long post its been a really long bad day. If someone can help me to better understand these things, please do...

I had the same code couldnt figure it out either. I replaced the WGA, vac hoses, and a bunch of other crap. I even took it to the dealer they couldnt find the problem one day it got warm outside and just went away. After it got warm and went away i did find a huge hole in my intake so i plugged it up. Dont know if that was it but it did go away before i plugged the hole up.

I haven't had mine come back on since i cleared it. I have note had time with school and work.....on a side not, i walked out to my car after class and discovered someone broke in to it and stole my ipod, GPS, and change out of my ashtray. They stuck a screwdriver in the drivers door lock and twisted it so hard it broke the handle where the lock is. Apparently our cars are easy to get into....(pissed)

hmm. I hate this code, it can be some many things. I just keep clearing it, dont have time to really investigate and no money to have someone else do it.
