Build your Dream MSP

Just a quick note on this... the VDO gauge is made to go with the electric VDO sender, regardless of what car it's on... it's a standard resistance range, anyway. (0-180 ohm) The thread pitch is BSP, just like the original.. there is no adaptor... the sending unit has a low-level contact to wire to the idiot light.... It's as simple and clean as can be.

I have the DIN panel and I don't know what the issue would be with the vacuum hose on the boost gauge being mounted anywhere else.

As to the wheels... I agree it's a pricey upgrade but losing 24lbs. of wheel and adding almost an inch of track width really made a big improvement in the handling. (I admit I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't hit a driveshaft on the highway and ruined one wheel.) So now it's a Christmas present. :)

WOW, that's quite a bit of mod's (boom03) (boom01) (boom05) (boom08)

good luck with those 19"s... i dont know if youre gonna be able to put those jic's to work with that big of wheel. Maybe keep the stockers to throw her around a bit in the turns?

side note: Do 19's even fit the msp? especially with a drop:?

only one way to find out. im not gonna make the purchase before researching it tho. i know 19's do fit with the right offset.. dunno how much I can drop it tho, but i can get the fenders rolled if i have to

It's my understanding the electronic sender thread pattern is NPT not BTP (stock) and you would need a BTP to NPT adapter to get it to fit in the stock location. You would also need a reverse adapter to get the stock oil sensor to fit into the VDO 3 sensor relocation kit.

I still have all the pieces, but when researching (mainly through contacting the guys at Flying Miata) have found the thread patterns are indeed different. So I've been sitting on the parts rather than trying to force the install to work.

Have you put one of these in? Do you know this will work from experience or are you just guessing? no flames intended, I'm just curious.

Ok, since their sending all the new posts through some special review board, I will just use my old post....

I have installed a few mods since this post:
Megan Racing short shifter with KartBoy bushing (Adam did a great install)
AEM WideBand AFR guage kit (Adam & I installed)
MPI with new Turbo module (this was the same MPI unit Linux Racer owned, I bought it from him)
Blitz SBC-ID eletronic boost controller and guage (Adam & I installed with Victor on phone support)

parts waiting in the closet to be installed:
stainless steel braided brake lines and clutch line
Delsing Clunk fix
turbo timer

items I will have by next monday or sooner:
InJen cold air intake
Drilled and slotted rotors front and rear
AWR front motor mount
custom grounding kit

I have a wish list as well that will be filled as I go:
All of the GT Spec parts
coilover kit
FMIC
alu. hardpipes BOV
MPI stage one turbo upgrade
other items I can't remember at 3:00am!!!!

My car is running very good in my opinion!!!
The boost is set at 10psi
the MPI was installed by Ahmad who did such a great job!!! Very clean and tight!!!! Ahmad demands perfection in his work which is great for the person he is installing for!!!

Sam tuned the map and it runs very good. We didn't spend time micro tuning, but we will very soon. Let's put it this way I would feel very safe in saying Sam had the map tuned in about 15 minutes!! it was like he sleeps with an MPI at night and dream of tuning it... He was flying threw it and you could tell he is at a point that he has the MPI down very well. We tuned the map on the safe side of things until we have the proper time to devote to it...

I would also like to thank Tony for being on phone support ( he has a Sam tuned MPI as well) The only real problem was that the instructions I had for the MPI install had two old steps that should have been removed, but for some reason was still listed in my instructions, other than that everything went super smooth!!!

Looking forward to the next set of mod's to be installed....

Nothing like the DFW crew we really support each other !!!!!!!
