Brake pad noise makers

Do the front and rear brakes have noise makers to let one know when the pads need to be changed? Thank you. Ed Hayes

Probably a given on front as I haven't heard of anything these days that doesn't have wear indicators on the front pads. Only thing I can say on rears is diagram in FSM seems to show pads with wear indicators. Hopefully someone who has changed them can chime in to confirm whether this is true or not.

I couldn't determine from the FSM where any noise makers were. ed

Usually they are a small metal tab on the disk pad itself. Once pad wears down to a service limit level it starts to rub on the rotor and make a screeching noise.

I've never seen a Mazda yet that didn't have them. Pretty much a given.

Yes, I can confirm. The brake pad wear indicators, or "noise makers " (I like your term better) is the red bar on my front pad.
