Any one know about switching out the bypass for an aftermarket blow off valve and if that would void warranty or not?

I'm assuming you mean to so you can run VTA with the aftermarket BOV? If not, skip this post.

Anyway, I don't know about actual warranty-defeating damage when running VTA, but it'll run like crap if this dyno is an indicator:

Sorry for the site cite, mods, but people interested in the clown sound ought to know about this.

If you do it, I think Recirc will be best until people figure out why theres a difference recirc/VTA.... maybe something like the MSP MAF relocate?

As far as warranty? I would call your dealership, dont give em your name and just ask... some dealerships might give you a hard time about it when others wont.

I have a 2003.5 MSP and the production #s are on mazda's us website.

For the MS3 I dont know where they would be hiding... probably have to CALL Mazda...

if you want a BOV for the sound, a CAI will do the job as well.
Not yet released, but I made an home made short ram in aluminium while waiting the release of the CAI.
very satisfied!

The BOV will only void your warranty if the part is the direct cause of the damage to the car. If they can prove you broke it via the aftermarket part, yes it voids the warranty. However, regardless of this agreement, a lot of dealerships blow you off in the amazing way you are sure familiar with. They'd listen if you had a lawyer state such fact, but who has a pocket lawyer?

So how does the blow off valve work? What is better on the MS3 VTA or Recirc BOV? What BOV would be the best to put on a MS3?

That dyno is a fluke. There was something else wrong with that car. The fastest MS6 runs a Turbo XS RFL BOV in VTA.

you will want to recirculate to prevent stalling

The 2.3 DISI does not have stalling issues with a VTA blow off valve. Other than a rich spike after shifts and the occasional backfire it runs perfectly fine.

Sounds just like an STi.. it would run so rich between shifts you'd get detonation between shifts which would cause backfire/flames (2 feet long) It looks cool but you'll wanna make sure that bumper is clean after every run.

I'm not sure you should use the word "detonation", I know what youmean when /you/ are saying it, but detonation to most means in the engine cylinder sense, which is really really bad.

thsi guy at mazda dealer has a ms6 and he bought a hks bov for his car. would HKS bov be good for the mazdaspeed3 because i want to get bov but i want to make sure i get the best for my car.

I think any BOV would be fine as long as its recirc.. it will still make some noise and will hold boost better than the stock plastic one.

Borderline here is 2 small video (made yesterday) of my HKS bov in recirc.
note that I also have a short ram (for winter) this add sound as well:

Hard to tell with the other noises goin on but Ive got the Idea, sounds cool, so you made an intake? It sounds rumblier, which is good :) As for the BOV did you make a custom flange or???? I was thinking about getting the speed6 HKS but the flange looks different to me....PLease respond Im eager to know! And in the other video what were you going about a 120? lol I Like. Gotta do it everyday!!! ive went upto 140.....It feels pretty stable

Oh and on the original thread...opps I dont think it would void the warranty, ask your dealer and get it in writing lol, Im serious. Or you could just take it on and off when you make visits.....

y would it need to recirc i read that recirc slows the turbo down between shifts. more pressure on turbo between shifts less response

Thats the whole point of a BOV is to releive the pressure that may put backpressure on the turbine after your done accelerating or shifting gears. I dont know why everybody is getting hooked on atmosphere..... Your car will run like crap...thats the reason they dont do it stock. Your car will run better recirculating how its suppose to. The only thing about VTA is its a little louder....The original point of a bov is to releive this pressure more efficeintly than the stock diverter...and you get a cool sound from it as a bonus...
